“I got lucky”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2008

My roomie and myself got extremely lucky with this hotel. Everything was fine in our room, it was clean and beds were fine. BUT.... friends in another room had problems with their shower -- it wouldn't turn off! Another friend got MANY bites either from bed bugs or mosquitos that came into the room at night. Location was so-so. In order to get back to the hotel from central Rome, you had to take the metro and then take a bus (I think its number 33) and after that its about a 5 minute walk. My advice -- watch out with this hotel, its really a hit or miss.

“The Shining”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2008

Mold growing on the ceilings of the rooms. We were a group of 43.....so we saw a lot of rooms. Toilets were loose, bathtubs leaked with exposed wires.

Ground -1 level had a open room that had liquor botttles, pop bottles and other debris along with all the exposed wiring.

Stain carpet was in several of the rooms and the hall.

The 4th floor was called "The Shining" by our group. Lightbulbs hanging by wires in the hallway, electrical tape wound around wires attached to the button to turn the hall light on.

We weren't lodged on the fourth floor but if you took the stairs you got mixed up on which floor was 3 and climbed up to 4th floor by accident.

Continental breakfast was marginal but the cooles place in the hotel. Air condiditoning only worked in part of the rooms so we moved into each other rooms where the cooling worked part of the time vs. never.

“Don't ruin your trip”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2008

Don't ruin your trip to Rome by staying here. If you like decor in your room that dates back to when Mussolini was in power, then this is the place for you! The carpet in our room was not clean. My wife and I were given three small twin beds to sleep on. The room smelled like my grandmother's coat closet. The light fixture in the middle of the ceiling was hanging from wires. The phone outlet was hanging out of the wall and there was no phone in the room. The chain on the door was broken and consisted of what looked like three paper clips strung together. I had to slam my door to get it to shut. There were many holes in the walls and a couple of big smudges on the wall also; one of the smudges looked like blood. The television was very small and had little or no reception on every channel. The walls were paper thin and I enjoyed listening to the two old ladies talking all night in the room next door. We also enjoyed the noise of people outside our window as their tour buses would pull up and they would empty out of the bus under our window and talk for hours. This was possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Don't do it!!!

“Student Hotel”

I stayed here for 4 nights.
The first night, it was ok. No problems.. only for our travel agent Marianne.
She stayed there for 3 weeks, and every week she had to move to another room.
Now.. she had the most terrible room ever. I thought it was very sad. Also becouse our travelagensy "Kras" didnt do anything about it.
Luckely she did go home to Holland with us today, so she can finally get some rest.

The second night was one hell. Full busses arived with school childeren. And... they make a lot of sound.
and that also for the 3 and 4th night.

Very bad... and also...

there is nothing to do at the hotel. nothing.
The pool was closed... and there is only one bar. but the waiter was nice....

The beds are good, every day the make up your bed.
Every day i have clean towels. That is the only good thing of the hotel.

But our travel agent Marianne.. she did the best she can. She showed us rome... with all her energy.

but next time.. i will take a nother hotel...

“Good and Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2007

Stayed there with a group of travellers in the first week of Jan. I didnt even notice any broken sign, too me i was happy i was in another hotel. Barman was very cool...looks like a Jude Law clone. And he pours a mean whiskey...giving you a quadruple when you ask for a double! Bar stayed open pretty late. Rooms were nice but only had one power charger. TV was very very small...think my IPOD screen is bigger. Receptionist/manager was ok..had no troubles with him. There was a very attractive brunette also working behind reception. I didnt have a key to get back in my room one night, because my roomate was out and had it. Manager did not scream at me, though he thought i wanted to dial another room when i explained i lost my key. They had many photocopies of a map on how to get into Rome. Getting into Rome, you had to take Bus 31. Roughly a 20 min ride, so be prepared to wait a while. Supper we had consisted of pork with lots of fat, and was tasty. Breakfast was good..ample amount of food and cold meats. All in all..its a decent place to stay on a budget, but it does feel you are stuck in a 80's timewarp and Michael J Fox is ready to travel Back Into The Future. Forgot to mention, only one elevator out of the two worked.
