“Wonderful staff and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2009

Loved everything about this medium sized 5 star Hotel which is next to a park within easy walking distance of everything you want to see in Rome. Great views of the City from the top floor where we had champagne and watched the sun setting over the Vatican each evening. Polite, smiley and very helpful staff and I would recommend any day as they really pull out the stops for their guests. The room was smaller than some Hotels but clean and had everything we needed plus views over the park next door. Good food nearby so you dont have to walk far in the evening. I will stay here next time and soon I hope.

“Central, nice, but a bit noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2007

Great location. Walking distance to the Spanish Steps, the Park, Trevi Fountain, the Metro, and some touristy-shopping.

An authentic feeling boutique hotel. The staff was very helpful in directing me to gelato, a bookstore and restaurants within walking distance.

A high point was the continental breakfast, a much better spread than you get in most US hotels. Nice selection of cereals, breads & jams, fruits, juices and fresh cappucino. I loved that they had hard boiled eggs and an egg breakfast casserole. It's good to have protein in the morning.

This is a very basic hotel by US standards. Clean and comfortable, but small rooms. The shower was Euro style and the "shower wall" was fold-out and did not provide adequate coverage. The floor got very wet every time.

Rooms facing the street will hear fairly loud traffic. Alarms went off all night. I recommend ear plugs.

But other than these 2 things, I recommend staying there for a nice Rome city experience.

“Location < Location!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2006

Hotel Villa Borghese---superb staff!!! the most helpful, considerate I have encountered!!! The room was very small--but adequate--spotlessly clean. Shower was hand held and no way to avoid soaking the floor-=-but very clean each day. The view leaves a bit to be desired and the alley noise from the bar at night was sometimes loud--but ( for me) the worst part--the elevator was a small closet on a rope! My mother had no problem using it--for me--way too claustrophobic! I took the (many) stairs. The staff was incredible--booked us a restaurant every evening and reminded us that we needed one each afternoon when we returned--wonderful little places that would appeal to all and helped us to avoid higher prices. The Spanish Steps could be viewed a few blocks away from the street in front--LOCATION LOCATION!! Walking distance ( sometimes a bit long) to everything--Vatican, colloseum, piazza Navona, Pantheon. Note: a GOOD walk--20-30 mins--to most places---but awesome sightseeing on the way! The staff provided maps and directions to everything--extremely helpful!! Hotel entrance a bit unusual--large door--but how cool is it to be let into the castle each day by buzzer? Not your standard hotel lobby-. Overall excellent hotel--would highly recomend to those who want a true Rome experience.

  • Liked — the staff and location
  • Disliked — elevator--scary small
  • Tips/Secrets — wear your walking shoes--ask staff for help--amazingly helpful!

“Excellent value for money”

We were a group of 8 (3 couples and 2 singles) and all of us were quite happy with our rooms. There are no lifts and the luggage was brought up by one of the staff. Since our room was on the 4th floor this was especially appreciated. Our room had a very nice bathroom and was light and airy. The towels were changed every day. The staff was genial, spoke English, always eager to answer all our questions. The hotel has a very comfortable lounge which was an ideal meeting place for us all. The only drawback the noise from the streets but at night, with the shutters closed, this wasn't a problem. The location was superb, across the street from the Borghese Gardens and the Museum of the Villa Borghese. We are walkers and it was only a 20 minute walk to The Termini. Bus service is convenient to the hotel. Breakfast, included, was more than adequte (yogurt, cereal, rolls, coffee, tea). Like most older European hotels, there is no proper fire escape route other than the stairs to the rooms. No question that I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome.

“relaxing after a busy day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 April 2005

We chose this hotel because of its location overlooking the Borghese Park and were not disappointed. The staff were all extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. The small number of rooms made for a homely atmosphere. The room was kept very clean and towels changed every day.
The staff offered much practical advice regarding travel to the centre, moderately priced restaurants within easy walking distance and directions to the nearby GS supermarket. When my husband got food poisoning from a snackbar near the Trevi Fountain they could not have been more helpful. There was some traffic noise but it was quieter than some areas. We used the orange buses to get about and found the service quick and frequent. The bus returned us almost to the door of the hotel.
We found the area to be a pleasant one and were only sorry we hadn't allowed more time for exploring the park.
