“Very good 3 star hotel”

We stayed for a long weekend for the New Years and we were quite satisfied. The location is excellent, it is very close to the Termini train station and there is a bus stop within 2 minutes. However, you will probably not need the bus, since most tourist attractions are within walking distance. We walked everywhere, we only took the bus to go to the Vatican.
The staff were very friendly and polite, the breakfast was also good, basic but good.
The only thing we didn't like was that the walls are not noise proof, exactly as others have said before me, we woke up in the middle of the night because a couple of girls were screaming at a nearby room...
The rooms are not that big, but very clean. I didn't like the fact that the queen size bed were two twin beds put together though.
I think it's a great choice if you're looking for good quality in an affordable price.

“Perfect for a short break”

Location is fine, rooms are grand for the price, people at the desk are excellent, breakfast just adequate, but a fine base for a weekend visit...nice walk to Querenale district, and taxis are good value when ordered from the desk.

Room Tip: the disabled access room shower floods the floor, so be aware if getting one...

“Nice and affordable base in Rome”

We stayed here for a few nights at the beginning and end of our trip to Italy for sightseeing in Rome. The location is great for sightseeing in Rome, and many sights (Trevi fountain) are in walking distance.

The hotel staff were very friendly helpful, and made great restaurant recommendations and also assisted with transportation arrangements, and sightseeing sggestions. All staff spoke English, which was helpful with my limited Italian.

The room was comfortable, although our "queen" size bed was two twin beds pushed together. the bathrooms are small (this is Europe) and very clean.

Breakfast is good, not great. There are a lot of choices (pastries, bread, cereal, yogurt, canned fruit, cheeses, coffee machine, teas) but it is not high-quality. However, for something quick it is sufficient. Breakfast is served in a downstairs cafeteria that can get quite busy.

Overall, this is a great, affordable option when visiting Rome. If you are looking for luxory accomodations, this is not the place for you. If you are trying to balance cost, location and quality it is a great pick!

“It's a 3 star Hotel - Nothing more nothing less.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Just stayed in Medici for 5 nights over the Christmas/New Years holiday period with my partner. We are a couple in our early 30s from Ireland. This was our 3rd trip to Rome. We selected Medici on the basis of reviews on Trip Advisor.

Positives:
* 10 minute walk with luggage from termini.
* Reasonable walking distance to most major sites.
* Not far from 2 Metro Stations.
* Staff were friendly and willing to accommodate your needs as best as possible.
* Hotel was clean.
* Coffee/cappuchino maker in breakast room.
* A lovely little flower shop, pizza place La Biesta (I think) and a spice shop in the area.

Negatives:
* Reception area leads one to believe that the hotel is much grander than a 3 star but when you get to the rooms you realise it is very much 3 star. We had to change rooms 3 times before we were content to stay. Primarily based on how incredibly small and pokey the first 2 rooms where.
* The walls are paper thin. On our last morning we were awoken by girls in the room next to us screaming at each other. We reported it to reception who called the room to address the issue but had to do so 3 times before it ceased. Other guests were also disturbed by the noise. Hotel staff were apologetic.
* Decor in the room is dated and a bit of TLC could give the hotel a fresher more modern appearance in line with it's reception area.

Overall, we could not fault Medici massively, it does exactly what it says on the tin - it was an average price for an average hotel. The hotel won't excite you but it will meet the basic needs of cleanliness, proximity, reasonable price and pleasant staff.

“A perfect place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

This charming italian style hotel has a very nice downtown location on a tranquil street with a number of really good restaurants, wine bars and groceries/delicacy shops. Don´t miss to try for example the modern and trendy Marchetti wine bar or the nearby Ristorante La Locanda di Bacco both also at Via Flavia just two bocks away. At the same time it´s very near the more lively parts and in reach of both main attractions and communications. The staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast buffe is good value and the small bar and TV room as well as the free Internet Wi-Fi service are extra advantages. If you like jogging or running the Villa Borghese park is within easy reach.
