“Wonderful location; stay was great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here in May 2011. I am a little late posting this, but I wanted to offer some kind words about the great staff at the Hotel Internazionale. They were very helpful about everything and a pleasure to deal with.

As for the hotel, it was a mid-level European hotel. The bed was very firm. It was getting to be rather warm in our room, but they say that is Rome in May. The location was amazing on Via Sistina just a few doors down from the Hotel Hassler at the top of the Spanish Steps. The subway station was only a block away, at the bottom of the Spanish Steps. There were some amazing restaurants within a 5 minute block (our hands down favorite was Enoteca Antica on Via della Croce). My wife found a wonderful leather shop nearby too. Our room included breakfast each morning....the buffet was a mixed bag, but better than I make for myself on the average day, so it was fine. Overall, the location made it a great deal.

We booked a room in July for arrival the 3rd week of Oct 2011. They charged our AMEX for the full amt of our 4 nite stay.The first week of Oct, 2 weeks prior to our arrival, we were forced to cancel due to my husband having heart surgery.They refused to issue a refund and we were force to sek recovery from AMEX. We have been going to this hotel since the 1980s. NEVER AGAIN!.

Dear Guest,

We are really astonished to read your comment, for several reasons:

1. we do not have any file in our records with regard to previous stays you said you had in our Hotel;
2. when you decided to book your room in July, you choosed a very very convenient 20% (!!!) discounted rate, and it was clearly stated that this offer had to be PRE PAID at time of reservation and it was NOT REFUNDABLE in case of cancellation or no show;
3. when you asked to be refunded we told you this was not possible BUT we offered you the possibility to use your reservation for another stay at the Hotel Internazionale valid until 28.02.2012 (for 5 months!), this means also during Christmas or the New Year’s Eve!

We proud ourselves to be transparent, clear and correct in every customers relationship. We do admit and accept our errors, and when this happens we apologize with the guest and we take them as teaching and learning tools to improve our service. Unfortunately, we are not able to gather in your comment none of this.
We really hope that you will be coming to visit Rome in the near future and maybe one day, for the first time, also at the Hotel Internazionale.
Regards

“Old Italian charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

We stayed here with our two children (2 years and 5 months), although not the most child friendly layout we found the staff to be very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble.

It is in a great location, close to the Spanish steps and not too far from the Trevi Fountain.
The breakfast each morning was enjoyable and the staff in the breakfast room very friendly.

If you are used to modern flashy rooms then this hotel is not for you, it has a great history and as mentioned above old Italian charm. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

“Good location but poor quality in general”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

I stayed at a double room for 1 week for business. It is a poor business hotel as the amenities are lacking and poor WiFi speeds. As a tourist

Room and the hotel interior is dated (have character?). Room was not particularly clean, lack furnishings and in dire need of an update. One positive is the newly renovated fitness room on the 2nd floor.

Service was average. A few more smiles here and there would have been appreciated.

Breakfast had a good selection similar to other hotels in continental Europe but lacked the customary espresso/capuccino that most hotels/B&Bs offer in Italy.

The hotel is nicely situated for a tourist who is in a hurry but for those that may have more time, I'd suggest heading out of the historical core and stay across the river Arno near the Ottaviano and Lepanto Metro stations as you will still have access to the Metro but will be staying where the Romans actually live and work.

Originally scheduled to stay 2 weeks, I cut my stay at this particular hotel short and left to much better pastures. On this trip; I stayed at 3 different hotels in Rome and this hotel is definitely not worthy of another stay.

“Ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

Hotel was in a great location, very close to Spanish Steps, Spagna Metro and Barberini, and was quite nice. Breakfast was ok, nothing flash but all the basics. The issue I had with the hotel, were the walls were as thin as paper, and the beds are quite old and squeak - enough said, hard to get to sleep with someone next door enjoying the romance, and equally hard to get a good nights sleep on a squeaky bed.
One other point, they offer a free welcome drink, but when I went to have it, I was told it is only served during 3-6pm - how welcoming, seeing that the bar is open after 6pm, and does not fit in well to a day of sightseeing - either offer a welcome drink or none at all. not something that an actuary has worked out no one will ever have : )

Room Tip: my room was on the 3rd floor which was close to breakfast room
