“Definately NOT a 4-star Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Booked with points, hoping bad reviews were for the pre-renovated hotel. Pros: Excellent location, room was clean, plumbing worked great, bathroom featured bidet, towel-warmer, and great tile shower. Cons: Triple room unbelievably cramped, even for European standards; beds were very hard, like camping on the ground; evening front desk clerk was unbelievably rude, refusing to help locate a corkscrew, charging us a full-day's wi-fi at 10pm, knowing it shut off at midnight, etc. Breakfast was what one would expect at 2-star motel. When we left, the morning clerk tried to charge for wi-fi, which you can only get when you pay in advance, and then tried to charge an additional room-tax, saying it wasn't covered in my voucher. He pointed to a voucher from a different company to prove the point. I refused to pay until I spoke with my card's customer service. He threatened to call the police and then sent the bell-hop out to get my husband. I later verified that the tax was indeed paid in my prepaid booking. If not for the extreme rudeness and extortion attempts, it would have rated 3 stars if classed as 3-star hotel.

“Nice renewed hotel 1 minute from Metro”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Pros:
Very good location, just 1 minute walk to Barberini Metro station (Line A) and ~7 minutes walk to Fontana di Trevi. Nice renewed rooms a little bit on the small size.
Cons:
Our room was really hot (air conditioning in the winter is set to Heat only so we didn't turn it on) and we needed to open a window which caused the room to be just a little bit noisy but it didn't really bother us.
The breakfast could have been better for a 4* hotel.
WIFI is available but not free of charge. 1EUR for 2 hour (you don't need to spend all of those hours immediately).
Overall: We had a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to others.

“Reasonable price, a comfortable stay and an excellent location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

During my six night stay in Rome I decided to lodge at Hotel Anglo Americano for two simple reasons, the price was very good and the hotel appeared to be conveniently located in the heart of Rome. What I can tell you is that I could have not fount a better deal at this price.

The hotel is modern and offers a nice and comfortable place to retreat to at the end of a long day of sightseeing. Also, thanks to the hotel’s central location I managed to walk to most of Rome’s major attractions! It’s located just two minutes walk from the metro and 8 minutes walk from Trevi fountain. This area is full of restaurants, so you won’t have a problem finding a place to eat nearby (I recommend you check out Piccolo Buco for great pasta and reasonable prices).

The breakfast was included in the price and this consisted of a fairly standard continental breakfast with bread, cheese slices, ham, cereal, milk, coffee, tea, yogurt, orange juice and a variety of DELICIOUS and fresh sweet pastries, all you need to start up the day. My advice is to have breakfast early as the breakfast room tends to get too crowded after 8pm.

Rooms are on the small side but it was not an issue for me, they consist of a main room with beds and a small bathroom equipped with shower, toilet, sink and bidet. Room service was efficient as towels and toiletries where changed daily. The room was also equipped with a safe on which you can set your own password.

The only complaint we have about the hotel is that shelves in our room needed some dusting and the hotel’s internal heating was a bit too hot for or liking.

All in all, the hotel was part and parcel of a perfect holiday in Rome, a beautiful city I would happily visit again and again!

“location location location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in January. Its a very nice, clean and well kept hotel. The rooms are small but very comfortable, nothing too fancy but still nicely designed. In fact, most features in the hotel can be described the same way, including the breakfast. The staff were very patient and helpful with our constant questions and inquiries about what to do now. The main thing about the hotel is its location, a small distance from most of the main attractions of the city, and from the Metro line that takes you to Vatican City.

“Good option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Excellent location. Our room was fairly big, and had 2 windows with view to the street and the Barberini Palace. Morning staff was some what anemic in service, and breakfast staff needed some "warming up", but the service in total was very good. Light breakfast- omelet, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and ham. Don't settle for the coffee from the machine, but ask for one from the barista. There are about 100 channels on the TV, non of which in English!!

Room Tip: Room 503 is probably one of the best in the hotel
