My mother and I stayed at the Hotel Piranesi and had a lovely time. It is located directly off of the Piazza del Popolo, right near the Borghese Gardens and the Spanish Steps. You can walk almost anywhere in the centro storico from the hotel or take the metro from the Spanish Steps for locations farther afield. The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. They gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations, helped us secure a reservation at a restaurant that is very difficult to get into and helped with our transportation to and from the airport. The rooms are small (not anything unusual for Italy) but lovely and very clean. The hotel has a sumptuous terrace with incredible views and an absolutely delicious breakfast with anything you could ever want to eat. This hotel is a home away from home in Rome. I recommend it highly. A quick note: the hotel offers wireless internet access in its lobby sitting area and has a small bar if you want to grab a quick drink before dinner. However, I would recommend going for a drink at one of the incredible cafes up the street with views of the Piazza.

A welcoming mid priced hotel.
Breakfast was fantastic, buffet as on hotel dexcription does not do it justice. Cereals, fresh fruit salad, peaches, flans , boiled eggs, salami/ ham cakes and bread were all plentifull and beautifully presented.
The room was very clean and the maid, after thoroughly cleaning, changing towels in the morning etc came and tidied once or twice more each day, often we didn't need anything doing as we had been out.
Shower was very efficient, though the cubicle may have seemed small by modern standards. Lots of marble throughout and the
