We have just returned from our stay in Hotel Giada. Must admit I was dreading it as I had read the reviews on this site. The hotel was extremely basic, there were absolutely no amenities as promised on the website we booked through. The lift was shared with the hotel next door and on one occasion it was impossible to get from our 3rd floor room via the lift, as it was constantly full going down. The rooms although spacious, were extremely shabby and the furniture was old and tatty, the curtain in our room was falling down. However the beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean. The bathroom cold tap did not work and when we reported this to the reception clerk he just shrugged his shoulders and said it could not be fixed. This hotel is advertised as 3 stars, I would not give it 1 star, it is in my opinion one level away from being a hostel. The breakfast was extremely paltry and consisted of cornflakes, bread, jam and a pastry. Other comments I have read said that it was a cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for, we paid nearly 95.00 per night- not cheap in my opinion!! The area around the hotel, although not the best, was not as intimidating as we anticipated, and we did not feel threatened, we saw plenty of vagrants in Rome, but not too many around the hotel. The noisy drunken scots staying in the hotel next door were far more intimidating!!!
