Damp on walls, stains on lampshades, smell of sewage coming up through drains in bathroom - need i say more. Photos totally misrepresent the true state of the hotel. Complained to staff and were offered another room which was no different - had to leave and get another hotel before it ruined our trip. Take heed to this review and others who had a similar experience.

I always thought that people who leave bad reviews were just hard to please and I have never left a review before but trust me, don't book this hotel. It is nothing like it's description. The room had mould on the wall, the bathroom was musty and smelt of sewage and the breakfast was pitiful! When I complained to the receptionist he showed me what he said was a better room but it was almost identical. I explained that we would have to move somewhere else and he then became rude and unhelpful and refused to refund our payment. There is a far better hotel close by called the Marcella Royal, for a little bit extra a far superior hotel!!

We were looking for a budget based, central location, clean rooms and a nice breakfast. The hotel is in a fairly good location to walk to most of the sights. The staff are friendly, but the hotel is not in a good state. The rooms are extreamly small and are very smelly of smoke. The carpets are really grubby and dirty with stains. The bed linen was dirty and the blankets, i did not want even near my skin. There is no wallpaper, its material, and i think this may be absorbing the smells. The shower cubical was cracked and still had pubic hair from the last people. The bathrooms are incrediably small and you cannot sit even sit on the toilet without the shower being in the way. The mini bar, if thats what you call it had two bottles of water, one of which had been opened by a previous occupier and filled with water from the tap and put back in the mini bar. The lift is quirky, like an old fashioned film, and we laughed about it. the breakfast was the most dissapointing, its just cereal, cold meats and cheeses, bread roll, and dry packets of crispy french toast. There were of course fruit juices and tea and coffee. Its not enough choice for different pallets. Even a toaster and bread would have been better, so we went hungary. The hotel is very old and tired looking, and its a shame because this could be a really lovely hotel, centrally based. We knew it was budget, but the quality is below budget, and i would definatly not stay here again. We only wanted a base to sleep, were not spending time there, just sleep and breakfast and back out again. Shame, but it did not spoil my stay.

While the staff of the hotel are fabulous and are helpful, the rooms, showers, etc are budget at best. Rome is some place that is hit or miss--at least in my experience. I would not return to this hotel based on our stay. The room smelled of smoke, the shower was cold and I was very unimpressed with the hotel in general. The bed was the worst that I slept in my entire time in Europe. The breakfast was of poor quality and going down the street was of significant superior quality with coffee and a pastry.
