“One to avoid if travelling on business”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

I booked this for a business trip to Rome and chose it as it was close to the railway station. In fact it looks nothing like the pictures on the web and some of the facilities it advertises are misleading. The rooms are tiny - just enough space to walk around the bed. Rooms are dark and gloomy, carpets and walls grimy. The air conditioning was not strong enough to cool down the room in the midst of 34C summer heat. The bathroom was laughably small with no bathmat and a cracked shower tray. A small portable TV for entertainment and wifi only down in the lobby. Definitely not suitable for the business traveller. Did I mention that an erotic cinema is behind the hotel? And no food either!

Room Tip: If you are a budget traveller - ask for park view

I am always sorry when a customer is disappointed in our hotel, but it is absolutely true that our hotel is near the Termini train station 10 minutes walk from the hotel, services offered are described on our website, we have ever written that our rooms are bigger, are regular rooms cleaned daily and regularly authorized. I would like to list some important buildings very close to our hotel: German Embassy British Embassy, Russian Embassy, command of the carabinieri, the Ministry of Public Works Ministry of Finance, Defence Agriculture, etc., it seems to me that is not a red light district ... .....

“OK budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

Having been stood up by our first B&B, Casa Vincenza, we found this hotel quickly online. It was pleasant, clean, and comfortable, so we booked a room on our return trip to Rome. Staff was helpful, breakfast was fine, central location was great. So near tothe train station, but felt safe and quiet.

“terrible to be honest”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

I booked this hotel thinking the reviews were a bit harsh and decided to give it a go and I have to say it was not for my boyfriend and I.

I have to say the morning/afternoon clerk was extremely nice and helpful and the breakfast was decent (you had a wide range of meats, rolls and typical continental breakfast). The location was OK it was a bit of a walk to and from the main attractions maybe 20mins (mainly up and down hill) but we did not mind. It is about 15mins from Termini station which was handy.

Unfortunatly the bad overides the good when it comes to this hotel: It was old and tacky. The room, you could not swing a cat in, the Air con (not that it worked) kept me awake every night because it was loud and rattled. The shower is ancient, the walls have carpet material on, the bed spread made me itch and when I got home this afternoon I had bites all over my body. The TV- to be honest I did not see the point in there being a TV because it small and it was like watching TV back in the 90s with the fuzzy reception. The garden/smoking area needs a darn good revamp and it was like sitting in some tacky bar in Benidorm.

The night clerk I thought was rude and made me feel unwelcome. I asked for a bottled water and he simply looked distressed at the fact he had to get off his chair. Last night he was carrying water bottles and my boyfriend opened the door for him and he just grumbled at him; not even making the effort to say gratzie or thank you. He was scruffy looking and he stared a lot at us which made me feel uncomfortable.

Yes the hotel is budget but for £100 a night you expect a decent shower, TV and polite staff (only night staff in this case). Overall there were good points to this hotel as I have mentioned but for me I just think it needs a complete revamp both staff and decor.

I am always sorry when customers are not happy, but frankly it seems to me a negative opinion too excessive, even with a bad taste humor. Then why it is said that the staff was nice in the morning and in the end we need a total refurbishment staff! The furniture of the rooms were renovated in 2008. I do not agree with you totally reject his words.

“good value,would recommend”

having read mixed reviews about this hotel before i travelled i was not sure what to expect, myself and my partner travelled with our 18 year old daughter and had booked a triple room for 6 nights, when we arrived we were shown to a triple room which was quite small, i spoke to reception who within 10 minutes had given me the key to a larger room, which suited our purposes. the hotel is very well situated for visiting most of the sights in rome, we walked pretty much everywhere with the exception of the visit to the vatican as this was on the far side of the tiber and time was an issue on that particular day. the hotel building itself is old as are most of the buildings in rome therefore you have to make certain allowances, the staff were very pleasant and helpful and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day, while i do not eat breakfast myself, my partner and daughter found the buffet breakfast adequate, bearing in mind that the hotel does not have a restaurant breakfast consists of cold cuts , cheese, yoghurt, breads and croissants. all in all this hotel was very good value for money, yes there are large modern hotels around rome with more facilites but they lack the character of the hotel brasile and surrounding area and i suspect you would find yourself spending a great deal of time travelling to the sights which are as i said are within walking distance of this hotel

“Basic Hotel Within 30mins Walk to Most of the Sights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

Stayed in Hotel Brasile for 3 nights at the end of april 2011. I paid around £90 BB for a room, per night. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk north of termini station, we got the Terravision bus transfer from Ciampino airport to termini (8 euro return) then walked to the hotel.

Check-in was quick and the gentleman on reception spoke good English. The hotel is located opposite an embassy and the 1st floor room we were given had a small balcony which overlooked the embassy gardens on the road side. Unfortunately the hotel is located on a busy corner and there was quite a bit of loud continuous road noise during the day, but little between 11pm-7am. The room and en suite were on the small side but they were both clean and I found the bed firm but comfortable.

Breakfast is basic continental fare: cereal, yoghurt, toast, ham, cheese and croissants. It was fine.

There is a metro station about 5-10 minute walk from the hotel but we walked to most of the tourist sites. The Vatican is about a 30 minute walk from the hotel. The metro is good value at 1euro per trip or 4euro for a day pass.

I'd stay at the Brasile Hotel again as long as it was one of the cheaper alternatives.

*Rome now has a tourist tax, this is 2 euro per night per person and must be paid on check out in cash.

*Restaurants near the tourists traps are hideously expensive you can half the cost of a meal by simply walk a few hundred metres away from the crowds. Also watch out for the "cover charge" that restaurants and cafe's apply to the bill, some charge it directly others make you pay for the bread they serve at the start of a meal - it's around 10%. If you aren't going to eat the bread send it back.
