Hotel Athena is close to the Bologna Metro Station (5 mnts walk from the hotel)....it is true value for money...the rooms were neat (I booked a quadruple room) for 4 nights and I would say the room was spacious and clean. Our sheets and towels were changed every day..our beds made by the time we returned from sight-seeing...the staff are very helpful and resourceful...The breakfast was good..u hav cakes..biscuits..tarts..bread..croissants..4 varities of jam..butter..cheese..cold meat..eggs...juice..tea/coffee..cornflakes...They do have WIFI but it works only on the 1st floor!!!! They do have a laptop which you can use to browse and skype..

Don't go by old reviews which say the bathrooms were terrible..(I was aprehensive bout checking into the hotel reading those reviews)..you have nice Gelatareias near the hotel and a good chinese restaurant...plz do carry a map of rome..else you'll have trouble getting to the hotel..if u do not speak italian..I would definitely stay there again!!!

Don't expect a "High Class Hotel"...We were in Rome to take in the sights and just have a comfortable place to stay and got what we paid for...Staff was EXCELLENT!!...Nice to have a "Fridge" in the room...Everything very accessible...Room with balcony over-looking the Main Street was great and being in The University District was nice...With what you save on the room gives you alot more Euros to spend on seeing Rome and doing things...We were not there to spend day and night in a 5 Star Resort...We got a true feeling of Rome and the people who live there...One can see that there are 1000's of hotels in Rome;we prefered our Athena!

Prior to booking this hotel i took a quick llok at the review, and, to be frank, got a little scared, but the price was so much better then all the other options i decided to take my chances-and was not sorry!
Folks, this isnot the ritz or george V, and you must not excpect it tt be! This is a 3 star hotel in a major westren european city. I have been to many such hotels and this one is certainly up to par.
The bedroom (single) was more then reasonable in size (there was even a small balcony), clean, the towell wwere chaned daily (even when i did not ask for it), and the room was also cleaned daily. true, the bath room was small (the only place to put the soap bar or the toilet paper was on top of the toilet;s water rservoir), and the sink was not in the bathroom but in the bedroom. Breakfast was very reasonable.
Given the price I would certainly recommend it to my friends

I've been there for five days, the place is simply unacceptable, I've paid more than 100 Euros per night. I've found ants walking in the toillet, walls so thin that you can hear the whole building talking, it's a kind of splitted apartment where you'll find private apartments and offices(into the hotel...)
I'm not against cheap hotels if you want to save some money, but more than 100 Euros per night is far from being cheap...
