“far, far away...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2007

If you're looking for a reasonably priced hotel and don't mind spending half an hour or more to get into Rome, this may be the hotel you're looking for. Otherwise, don't bother.
Take a bus and then the metro to get into town - or just spend 17€ each way on a taxi.
If you have no choice, then at least ask for a room with a bath tub. Our room had a stall shower that was so small, the curtain kept sticking to my body.
Breakfast that is included consists of hard boiled eggs, cheese, rolls and cheap jams.
Concierge was not able to find us a decent restaurant in Rome and there are none in the neighborhood.
No wireless internet, no English-language TV, few electrical outlets in the room (one by the door and one in the bathroom).
...as for the four stars? Hair dryer and phone in bathroom, check. Mini bar, check. Safe in the room, check. That's about it. Nothing more.
Basic, boring- clean, cheap and far, far away...

“a very warm and welcoming hotel”

I stayed at the Aldobrandeschi for 3 nights and agree with others who say the staff are friendly, helpful and informative. They staff also speak good English which was one thing that surprised me about the rest of Rome that very little English is spoken.

I tried booking on the hotel website as the rate was slightly better, however had some difficulties with this so ended up booking via expedia.
The rooms were fine breakfast was continental so very basic. There is no restaurant in the actual hotel but there is plenty of choice in and around the city. The hotel also has an arrangement with a restaurant nearby and can arrange free transportation if you want to eat nearer the hotel. The food is reasonable.

The hotel is some distance away from the City and main attractions. If using public transport you can get a travel ticket for 11 euros for 3 days which i felt was good value for money. The Metro is very easy to use. The hotel is about 45 mins away from Vatican which is the nearest attraction. You have to get a bus outside the hotel No:892 to the nearest metro station Cornelia metro line A and then from the metro its another 15mins or so into the centre. A taxi to the city would cost about 30 euros. From the nearest airport a taxi costs about 50 Euros. If you do single journeys on the metro then the cost is 1 euro per 75mins. All in all I enjoyed my 3 day stay and but perhaps would stay a little nearer to the city if im ever in Rome again.

  • Liked — The helpful friendly staff and the cleanliness of the rooms
  • Disliked — The location, no restaurant on the hotel grounds and breakfast

“Very good hotel in Roma”

Recently visited Rome and stayed for two nights in hotel Aldobrandeschi, we found this hotel to be ok. The rooms and beds were clean, the air con/heating in the room was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sadly the hotel is quite a distance from a great many of the tourist spots, the Vatican is the nearest and is about a 15 minute taxi; from there you can get a sightseeing bus which will take you close or to other places of interest. Watch out for the taxi drivers at the airport, make sure they have got the meter running, we did find a really good one for our return journey, his English was superb and he charged us 26 euro's less than the first one. All in all for what we payed for the trip it was good value for money.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, best price in Roma
  • Disliked — the hotel isn't in the city center

“Comfort and Convenience”

This hotel is a clean and modern hotel - nothing special, but comfortable and functional for the price we paid (€ 100.00 for a double room). We had room 310 which had a nice large bed and large bathroom. Friendly & helpful staff. We also had great service in the bar, where we went for a drink after dinner.
The hotel is very well located to the airport, about 15 minutes with a taxi, but you need to take a bus or a taxi for the city center. Good value.

“LOW COST HOTEL”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2007

This is a value for money hotel, we paid 90 euro for a double room. If you wish to visit Rome with a limited budget, this is the correct location, low service, low price. The rooms are small but very clean. I found the best price on the hotel web site [--]

  • Liked — the low cost price
