“Snowy stay at Frattina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

Stayed at Residenza Frattina last weekend, with 3 other guys watching England/Italy rugby match. Great location, near to Spanish Steps and Trevi and walkable to most other attrractions.
Due to the unexpected snow we did a lot of walking as Taxis refused to work!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel itself was full of character. Lots of stairs. No bar/restaurant, just a breakfast room. but spoilt for choice outside of hotel. Rooms were a decent size and comfortable but bathrooms were tiny. I couldn't sit straight on the toilet !
Noise from the Breakfast room was a slight problem from about 7.00 and walls were paper thin, but this is not unusual in older properties. Breakfast was excellent; Cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, pastries and unlimited superb coffee. This was my second visit to Rome and I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Higher floor is further from breakfast room and has been renovated recently.

“Good location, Great staff, Clean, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My suggestion before you book is to email them to ask.....If WiFi is important for your work as it was for me, Email before booking and ask about WiFi status (currently not reliable in every part of the hotel though it says it's avail. in room; never worked in our rooms above lobby, only works in the lobby 100%, will have different routers installed soon). Each room has a different size-hot water tank (Room 42 had enough for 1 person to shower then wait for 1 hour). #2: Construction/renovation noise as of Feb.1,12...on the 4th floor, a pounding and banging on the wall next to your head during the day is unbearable when you just arrived after a long journey. ASK about the construction status. Other than the noise, hot water, and WiFi issues, this hotel offered all the amenities, convenience, and the personable staff (Paola, Valentina, Kiara) who are very patient, understanding, accommodating, and helpful. They do everything they can to make sure that you are satisfied and happy. For those who are complaining of no elevators, if you can't walk up 3 flights of stairs, you should not be visiting Europe.

Room Tip: Room 42 (Triple) had hot water issue, no WiFi, next to the construction, hear everything from room 4...

“FULLY EQUIPPED”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This was a last minute booking for us to make an unexpected visit to Rome possible.
Undoubtedly, the location gets top marks - the only minus is that there is no lift. The rest is all very positive - room very clean and fully equipped with all facilities including tea & coffee + free mini-bar & free Wi-Fi; Breakfast varied;Last & certainly not least - staff very courteous & helpful always readily available to serve guests.
Thank You.

“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Small hotel over shops in excellent location, 15 minutes walk from all sites. Friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was excellent and served in a small but lovely bar area. Hotel was spotlessly clean and a nice touch was the provision of a dressing gown and slippers plus a free bar containing water and soft drinks. Would not hesitate to recommend it and when we visit Rome again will certainly stay again
