“Location is everything”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2007

You cannot get any closer to the Forum and the Coliseum. And it's an easy walk to the Trevi fountain, Pantheon and Spanish steps. It also satisfied our family of four with a queen bed and two singles. This was hard to find in Rome. Everything was clean and worked. Breakfast was simple, but again satisfying. The staff was courteous, but not to eager. If your idea of a hotel is a place to sleep and shower, then this a good choice. You can see a lot of Rome from here with no transportation costs.

“Great Location, Great Staff”

My husband, eighteen year old son, his freind and I, stayed at the Richmond Rorma post Cruise on June the 18th thru the 21st. The Hotel is a family oriented, small , well maintained and a very old hotel. Clean. Gemma and Rosa are pearls in a hectic city. Gemma helped retrieve a camera left in a taxi by calling the five central taxi agents. The hotel is now building an addition so next year it will be updated. This is old world Europe in a fantastic location. You can walk anywhere but the Vatican from here. The ancient airconditioning is a factor for summer guests who cannot take the heat. We had a front room which was very noisy. ( they provide ear plugs!) I love the breakfast of fruits, croissants, ham and cheese. The boys did not care for this type breakfast. The rooftop is only open for breakfast. A tiny elevator for one to two is adequate to take your bags to your room. The soaps are delightful. The shower is small.

  • Disliked — air-conditioner was inadequate/noise, but that's Italy!

“In the midst of acient Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2007

You can't beat the location if you want to be in the historic center. Across the street from the Forum and a short walk to the Colosseum.
Stayed with my family of four. The room was fine but the padded fabric walls were dingy and looked like the mildew had been cleaned off. We are out all day and just came in at night to sleep. The room would have been small to spend any time in.
The staff was very helpful. Arranged for airport transportation and local taxis.
Good neighborhood with lots of restaurant choices and plenty of gelato.

“Sleepless in Roma”

Richmond Hotel is perfectly located if you are planning to visit the city. Only steps away from the Roman Forum and the Coliseum and about 15 minutes walk from La Fontana di Trevi. The room I booked was a single room which I found very small. I would recommend a double room for single use if you don’t want to feel cramped. I asked for a room with a view and I got a room with a view of a roof top, not exactly what I expected. On the other hand the staff was excellent; very helpful and accommodating. I would have to say many thanks to Fabio who made sure that my stay in Roma was truly special.

“Great location, elegant rooms, friendly staff, nice breakfast terrace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2007

We chose Hotel Richmond for location first (walking distance from the Coliseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain and more), and price/star rating second. My family consists of 2 adults and 2 children (5 and 7 years old). The beautiful high-ceiling, wall-padded room and the stylish bathroom exceeded our expectations. The staff spoke many languages (English, French, some Spanish), and helped us a lot. They gave us advice on the best way to get to Vatican, on good local eateries, and other requests. We had a memorable breakfast on the 4th floor terrace watching the dawn turn into day over the hill opposite the Roman forum. The food and drinks were good and plentiful. Some rooms have no bathroom nor shower (not ours, because we requested a larger room to accomodate the entire family). For travelers considering rooms without these amenities, I looked into the shared bathroom and shower down the hall, and everything was spotless. That was reassuring. Hotels tend to be pricey in Rome, and Hotel Richmond is no exception. However, you get a good deal for the money. The photos include a view of inside our room and a view from our room looking outside towards the Roman forum (to the left).
