“Nice apartments, great location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Residence Barberini for 5 nights during our holiday to Rome.

Our suite is spacious and adequately appointed; it overlooks the courtyards behind the hotel so our sleep was not disturbed by the noise of the main street. The location is really good and the Barberini train station is only a 3-minute walk away. We found the in-room folder particularly helpful, more specifically the restaurant recommendations, as it lists the culinary highlights of Rome which is incredibly helpful given the bewildering array of Italian restaurants and cafes in the city. We ate at several of the recommended restaurants and were not disappointed at all.

Not so good points:
The air-conditioning is one of the noisiest we experienced. The same can be said of the extractor fan in the bathroom. Housekeeping is clean but, as one of the reviewers had mentioned, our toiletries were not replaced, neither were the dirty linen put in the basket and complimentary tea bags, sugar and coffee in the pantry. Lastly, it took them two days to send an iron and ironing board to the room (they only have one iron in the residence apparently).

All factors weighed up, we had a fuss-free stay and will definitely consider staying there on our return.

“Hotel in Rome ? Maybe, It's better a Residence !!!!”

Have booked with RoomsAccomodation before and was happy with the accurate description of the locations booked. For our 3rd vacation to Rome, my father and I decided to rent an apartment instead of an hotel room. It was definitely the right choice! We were extremely happy with the fabulous location of Residence Barberini. It seemed as though we really were in the best location of the city. It is right next to the Barberini square, the end of Via Veneto and just a 5 minutes walking to the Spanish Steps and other beautiful and historical locations. The best part of renting an apartment is that we had a kitchen. The supermarket was not far of a walk and the best outdoor market right on our street! Fresh fruits and veggies everyday Overall, our experience was wonderful and I would definitely recommend to rent this property. Thank you!

“Good Rooms, Bad Housekeeping”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2006

Rooms are big, and clean, however, housekeeping kept stealing a bottle a day from minibar (hopefully nothing else) and never added a single bar of soap even though we stayed five nights...

Too bad, with improved housekeeping standard this hotel would have rated much higher.

“Perfect, Low-Maintenance Location”

The Residence Barberini is just steps off the Piazza Barberini in the center of Rome. It is a great location from which to explore all the sights of the City. The Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain are only a few minutes walk. The subway will link you directly with the Vatican and the Forum.

The hotel itself is a series of self-catering apartments. The are very large and adequately furnished. We had a living room with a sofa-bed and sleeping cot. There was an oversized bedroom, kitchen and very large bathroom. Decor is decidely post-modern with lots of contemporary art that is interesting and quirky. There is a main entrance but we received our own keys for 24-hour access through a separate entrance.

Previous comments about service are surprising. I found the staff very friendly and professional. I also didn't need/use them for any queries or assistance. There is no restaurant, bar, etc. and the apartments are obviously for those interested in a self-service stay. Taxis are readily available in Piazza Barberini and we didn't experience any issues with the very clean and nice rooms.

Of note, the hotel provides an extensive directory which includes information on car service, museums and opening hours, and restaurants. They are top-notch. Having been to Rome a few times, their restaurant recommendations include some great Roman neighborhoods that are off the tourist path where you will find yourself speaking only Italian and dining with locals. Including gyms and groceries as well, the directory was invaluable.

I would definitely stay here again... especially if traveling and needing some extra space for an extended or family stay.

“A great hotel and location!”

We stayed here for 5 nights in May and thought the hotel was fabulous. The rooms were large (especially by European standards), very clean and simply but elegantly decorated. We stayed in Suite 7 which was on the back of the building which tended to be quieter. The location is great - 10 min walk to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps but also just one block from the Metro system at the Barberini station - this made it easy to travel around out to the Vatican and back to Termini to catch our train to the airport. The staff here was very friendly and accomodating. They will help you with any information you need - closest ATM, train and travel information, etc. There is a grocery store about a 10 minute walk away on the Via Nationale and we were able to buy breakfast food, snacks and water to keep in the kitchen which was much cheaper than going out or buying water at tourist locations. The room was well kept and the staff even waited until we went out each day to make up the room (on our first day we slept in and didn't leave until 1pm and the desk waited until they saw us leave for the day to have housekeeping come.) The rooms have Bang & Olufson TVs with DVD players and Sky Satelitte TV and there is free internet in the lobby (they have a free and very recent DVD collection that you can borrow from). Overall I would highly recommend staying here - especially for famillies or two couples since there are two separate bedrooms (one w/a bed, one w/a comfortable pull out couch)- see attached photos.
