“Perfect for a visit to Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011
3
people found this review helpful

Looking at the map the hotel seems to be in the distance. In reality, however, Bus 990 and train FR3 all passes in the vicinity. Thus, getting to downtown Rome is a breeze, also in the week ends.
The hotel itself is very modern, has a breakfast that will satisfy also non-Italian travelers, proper room-service and a well stocked bar. The room and other facilities is as one can expect from a four-star hotel.
Within walking distance we found several trattoria and even a more than decent Chinese restaurant.
Free underground parking.
We were there in winter and the price was a mere 55 euro/night.

Room Tip: Price/value is based on their winter prices.

“Not very good”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My husband and i spent 2 night at this hotel and couldn't get out of there fast enough. It is new and very clean and has a good shuttle service and that is about it The hotel is in a very dirty built up area and is a long way from anything and after being out all day it is just to far to go into town again for dinner 20- 25min drive. We were given a small hot, stuffy room on the first floor. You had to climb into bed or you hit the wall. The air conditioning had been turned off and you couldn't open the door as the bed was up against it. The bathroom didn't have anywhere to hang a towel or put any of your toiletries in. The breakfast was served in a airless room that looked like a double garage. The coffee was made and kept in a thermos if you wanted a cup of tea they had tepid water in a thermos. When i asked for fresh boiled water I was told the water in the thermos is freshly boiled, it was dreadful tasted like plastic. They served the same dry pastries every morning. The breakfast staff were pleasant but the staff at the front desk made you feel like you were intruding if you dared ask for anything. There are better places to stay.

“Deskgirl destroyed my ready to mail postcards, and IMPOSSIBLE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

You read that title correctly. This is not the only reason for the one star. The other desk clerk was rude from the start. He did not want to accommodate me into my friends room or upgrade us. He could not understand anything we were saying. He repeatedly said, "IMPOSSIBLE!"

That is the moral of the story, everything about this hotel is impossible! It started with the bed. Sharing the bed is impossible. It is small than my dorm room bed. Sleeping on the floor is impossible because there is barely enough room to get through the room. Other things impossible:

The wifi is impossible to get except in the lobby, the one computer in the lower level of hotel is impossibly slow, a decent breakfast is impossible, unless you like warm milk.

Easy transportation and good food around here: impossible. Calling a cab to the airport: IMPOSSIBLE!

This is what led to my postcards being fervidly torn up and thrown in the waste can. We asked for a taxi to bring my 2 friends and me to the airport. We had to make one stop before and so the lady said we will not make it to the airport (my one friend had an hour earlier flight). She cancelled the first cab. Then she suggested to order 2 cabs because the one cab she said was approximately 45 minutes away. Ok...

Then the cab shows up 10 minutes later. We said cancel the other cab we have time now. She refused to cancel saying she will be in trouble. She had no problem canceling the other cab and she told us we wouldn't fit in there. We fit in the cab just fine. And it turned into me saying, "I'm sorry we have to go! We don't have a lot of money for 2 cabs, since she was pressuring us into 2 cabs in the first place."

Do you know how expensive cabs are to the airport??? Let alone anywhere in Italy. You have to pay for the cab to come to you and then to where you are going. It's ridiculous.

So she is saying, "You can't!! You can't" Yelling and I kept apologizing but we had to go so we left.

I felt bad, but I also felt like she was trying to scam us. Then I realized I handed her my 7 postcards to different family members to mail 10 minutes before that, with stamps. Can you guess what happened? They never made it to their destinations, my other ones from the day before I dropped in the Vatican did.

I am not going to say she is a bad person. I can see somebody in the heat of the moment ripping up some paper postcards angrily. Maybe she regrets it, maybe she doesn't, but my family was looking forward to getting postcards from Italy from me.

This hotel is just not worth staying at, and this experience was terrible for me and impossible to forget.

“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Very modern, stylish, and new. I loved it. Wifi, friendly staff, free parking, excellent breakfast, clean, a must.

Only slight small problem, it's not 100% conveniently placed, but a train station is about 10-15min walk, but you must change to get the main line heading to rome city.

Room Tip: first floor 100-105, right next to main gathering area.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I have made a reservation for myself and two other friends with this hotel using Hotels.com online. I personally was in contact with the hotel reception desk by email a day before arriving at the hotel. BUT to my suprise the room was avalibale more then that no room on the hotel was available!!!!so the sent us to a different hotel, same category but not even close to were we need it to be!.
In short this has never happened to me or any one I know that makes booking on line with a leading company like Hotel.com!!!
Never ever do any business with this Hotel!!! This is for your own personal safety and well being!

Dear Client,
We thank you for taking the time to write a review.
We would like to apologize for the problems that you encountered during your arrival in our hotel. Unfortunately, we cannot change the fact but we ensure that it’s not a frequent situation at the Hotel Zone, we have had a problem with our reservation system. It may happen that an hotel is not able to accommodate a guest with a valid booking, in this case the hotel must undertake to re-locate the guest to an alternative hotel of equal standard, at not extra cost, with the travel cost being paid by the hotel.
We truly hope to have again the pleasure of your return visit in the very new future in order to give us another chance to welcome you, we are sure that the stay will live up to your expectations.
Best regards
