“Staff extremely helpful and nice. great value for money.”

The receptionist knows everything you can do in Rome, where to eat, where to shop and what to see. the room was clean and we were pretty suprised when we arrived to the hotel. the location is just perfect, 8 minutes walk to colosseum and other landmarks, 3 minutes from main railway/subway station. prices are not so high to Rome. the bad things: elevator not so efficient, shower is not really comfortable since water does not drip out very well.

Room Tip: since the hotel is just a corridor, try asking for a room as far away from the entrence as possible...

“Hotel has gone out of business”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2009

Unfortunately this hotel has closed its doors. We had a reservation for one night in Sept 09 and only learned that the hotel had closed when we arrived and found the doors padlocked and the windows covered over. They didn't notify their existing reservations holders to this, so it came as a total surprise and forced us to find a last minute replacement hotel. We stated at the Hotel Marcantonio a few floors up from where Hotel Everest used to be. Not sure if they plan to reopen or not, but I'd suggest not taking any chances if they do.

“Perfect low cost base to explore Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

We are a 30 something aged American couple who stayed here over a busy weekend in June. Hotel is very convenient (5 minutes) to train station and buses and we felt very safe here. We often even walked to or from major attractions within 20-25 minutes and enjoyed wandering the neighborhoods.
Staff was helpful and hotel was quiet and nice. Our double room had three beds (one double and two twins) a small refrigerator and TV, shower and bathroom and central air conditioning that was on all the time. Would definitely stay here again. Only critique was that breakfast was very light, with only dried packaged toast and croissants, jam and a bit of coffee in plastic cups. But there are cheap little shops just across the street and we kept juice and yogurt in our fridge to supplement breakfast.
There is no internet but the peace, quiet, cleanliness and convenience made up for it. So much better than the hostel stay I had in Rome in my 20s! Perfect for people who want a convenient base for seeing Rome. It does not have hang out space, which probably helps it be quiet, and for those seeking that, I would recommend a hostel.

“Excellent location! nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

Great location! Busstops downstairs and metro around the corner. Most sights on walking distance. The rooms were small, but recently refurbished nicely. Clean room, good beds, airconditioning and friendly staff. Not half bad for the price we paid! We had an excellent stay.

“It has the basics”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2007

Hotel Everest has your basic needs for a simple stay in Rome. It is a five minute walk from Termini (the train station), down Cavour, so that is convenient. The hotel is on the third floor of the building, so that was different. Take the elevator to the third floor if there are only two of you because no one else will fit. We walked up all the stairs upon our arrival b/c we didn't know it was on the third floor.
The hotel staff provided us with a map when we arrived and pointed out all the bus routes and major sites to see, so that was helpful. The room is very basic, the bathroom is simple and there is not a view. We had trouble with the water going down in the shower, the toilet flushing, and the blow dryer does not have a whole lot of power (if that is something that you would use).
Breakfast is also very basic. It had some things we couldn't identify in wrappers, some bread, and coffee and juice.
We could pay with credit card though when we checked out, unlike I read in a different review.
All in all, it is clean and a place to sleep if you are going to be out all day exploring Rome and do not care a whole lot about your bathroom amenities or breakfast.
