“Disappointing Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

When I visited in April 2010, there was no lift to assist with baggage, the shower was clogged, I provided my own soap and toilet paper, I was bitten by bed bugs and the light would switch off periodically during use which was quite annoying. Noise from the other rooms was not much of a bother to me once I fell asleep. For 2 of my 4 nights, there was a trickle of freezing water from the shower, which made bathing a challenge.

Corinne was absolutely wonderful and was the saving grace for this place. Its proximity to Roma Termini was also a plus.

Hopefully, the renovations will enhance the experience of other travelers.

“Great little hotel with lovely service and perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

I did a fair bit of research before selecting Planet 29 as my friends and I were on a budget and Rome's city centre is not a budget destination really. You are going on faith a little when you select a 3 star hotel as it's not going to have the bells and whistles that Americans are used to in the US. The main things you want for a 3-star hotel in Rome are going to be cleanliness, hot water, and decent service. Thankfully, faith came through for us with Planet 29. It is a 5-10min walk from Termini train station which is where all the trains and buses from the airports land. The hotel itself was very pleasant, although we did have to drag our suitcases up two flights of stairs to reach the reception (this will soon change though as they are opening up reception downstairs at street level). Let me do a quick pro/con list:

Pros:
- Perfect location (near train station and easy walking distance to all the major sites)
- Very lovely, friendly and helpful staff
- Clean rooms, beds and bathrooms
- Free WIFI
- Nice little outdoor closed in courtyard
- Nice breakfast area (although we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel)
- Decent little restaurant across the street from the hotel that had a nice buffet style antipasto section along with a full menu of pastas, pizzas, and meats. Pizza was nothing to write home about, but everything else was pretty good at a great price. We ate very well for €10 a head.

Cons
- No elevator to carry up your cases to the room
- Not the most comfortable bed
- No toiletries, so bring your own shampoo, shower gel, etc
- Really small TVs, but you don't come to Rome to watch Italian TV ;)

All in all, I really recommend this place. My friends and I are all pretty low maintenance and realistic about the cost/quality ratio of hotels around the world. For its category, this hotel ticks all the boxes. If you want better rooms, beds, add-ons, you need to fork out more money.

“Planet 29 - fantastico!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

We have had a lovely stay in Planet 29 on our Honeymoon. The staff are great and very accommodating, the room very large and airy, clean and cool in the hot weather. Shared bathroom was no problem at all and it was also very clean with a great shower! Great location to train station, bus stops, metro and for sightseeing all major attractions. Ice cream shops are fab too! Definitely reccommend this hotel. We will definitely be returning with family/friends.

“Great service & cool location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2010

Very nice peronal. Great every day service. I just felt home. The lady Corina, which works at reception was amazing person. I like my stay there & I will strongly suggest this place. The prices are well and cheep. Outside the "Accommodation Planet 29" is there a great restaurant & a very cosy Coffee bar, which gives good food.
Thank you Accommodation Planet 29.
