“Mostly disinterested staff, dubious food. Rooms OK though!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The hotel appears nice on arrival with good reception and bar area. Rooms are up to spec with good sized beds, cupboards, etc. and in good, clean condition.

But what lets the place down is the disinterested staff who seem annoyed that people are staying there and asking for coffee and other bar drinks. Considering we were a large group of people on company expenses you would have though they would have seen the cash-register coming. Instead we received, at best, average service and ended up in the few bars near to the hotel, one of which was pretty expensive and recommended by the staff....

Breakfast was 'ok' but lunch meals taken during the conference was poor at best. You kind of believe the Roman's would be good at Italian food....

So if you get a good rate and are out of the hotel much of the time, it would be fine.

Great hotel! Just a few minutes to Termini, on bus. Not very close to city center.

“Beware First time Rome tourist : Hotel is in the Middle of Nowhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Our travel agency booked this "good value" hotel in Rome. The hotel is the middle of nowhere. This hotel is ideal for group tourist since they have their own transportation. There is no metro station nearby and you have to walk awhile to the bus stop .

Unless you are an Italian, do not think it is "easy" to ride the bus. We took the bus 3 times and we always missed the stop on our way home..... it's not easy to remember landmarks in a historical city coz all the buildings looks the same (they have to conform with the city planning architectural code). Similarly the bus route going towards and out the city is different.

Getting lost in the outskirts of historical Rome is not Priceless...it is scary!!!! Get "lost" in the nice part of Rome like the Vatican, Spanish step or the Trevi fountain area.

Get a hotel near a Metro stop. Look at the google map and you'll find out Hotel Albani is the only hotel in its area (wonder why no other hotel owners would put one nearby?)

Dear Guest,

we would like to thank you for your comment and for mentioning Google Maps.
It is a very accurate tool, we have it on our website and we clearly explain our location.
You might not know Rome very well: we wish we were the only hotel in our area because our life would be much easier. On the contrary, many other oweners run hotels in our neighbourhood.

Having said that, if you expected to book our hotel and stay at the Vatican or at the Spenish Steps or at Trevi Fountain, either you or your travel agency made a mistake.

we would like to suggest you two options, especially if we look at your previous reviews, all of them extremely negative:
- change your travel agency because they always book you something you don't like;
- learn how to use google maps or stay home and avoid expressing negative comments on things that are very well known, like the location.

Our best regards.

“*shrugs shoulders*”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Stayed here for three nights in December. The rooms were free for us so I can't say how I'd have felt if I'd paid for them. That aside, some comments: avoid the first floor. The street can be noisy. If you're very unlucky (we were) you'll be directly above the hotel's load-in area and, before dawn, you'll be woken by the comings and goings of the staff, and whatever objects they were rolling in and out. We asked to move on the second morning and were lucky enough to be able to swap with a friend who was leaving. We got his 5th floor double room, overlooking the courtyard (you'd be well advised to ask for a room overlooking the courtyard, just in case you get the noisy street side). Much better. The decor were decent, the beds were decent, the breakfast was oaky. It was all a bit average. The bar could be pretty nice if they dimmed the lights, turned off the TVs, played something other than ropey Euro-pop, and if the barman would hand out a smile now and again. The staff, in fact, are what let the hotel down. In three days we were smiled at by two of them, out of maybe twenty. There just wasn't any warmth, and you can live with cold staff if the hotel is impressive in other ways, but it isn't. It doesn't have any pretensions to be a high-class joint, but it would do well to raise its standards overall.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor, avoid any room overlooking the street (except maybe fifth floor and above) an...
