“Ideal romantic break away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

I cannot describe how fantastic this hotel was. From the beautiful and immaculate rooms to the welcoming and professional staff it really is the ideal hotel to stay in while visiting Rome.

We were upgraded on arrival by the lovely Karina to a frontfacing room with a view right up to the Spanish Steps. The hustle and bustle was right outside our window from morning until evening but once the heavy curtains closed we didn't hear a thing.

The snow in Italy came down on our second day and although we were disappointed that a lot of the sights such as the Vatican and the Borghese was closed we enjoyed the romance of the city and the absolute delight of the Italians. Families were out in force enjoying the weather and spirits were high.

This hotel is wonderful for a couples break away and is a little oasis of peace and quiet after a days trekking!

Enjoy x

“Great location, great staff!”

Went to Rome on the first leg of honeymoon and The Inn At The Spanish Steps was our first hotel. The location is as good as it gets and allows for walking the city and/or short taxi jaunts. The hotel is small enough to be considered quaint, but staffed as well as any of the bigger ones. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make our 4 night stay quite pleasurable. They offered magnificent restaurant recommendations and reservations, accurate and helpful walking directions, and daily service that really helped make our stay relaxed and easy. The free breakfast upstairs was first class and a really nice touch as well as the happy hour.

The room we stayed in was located in the main hotel building and it was small(as most European hotels are,) but quaint and well appointed. If there is any complaint, it would have to be the bed. It was the hardest bed I have ever slept on and could really only compare it to sleeping on a dining room table. We enjoyed the hotel very much and made it through the stay on the bed and slept pretty well, but if these recommendations are going to have any merit I believe that issue has to be mentioned. Hopefully they will look into upgrading the beds in the near future. I would recommend the hotel to others, but I would want them to be aware of the bed situation before making their final decision. If the bed situation is remedied I cannot think of any reason not to stay at this hotel. In fact, I would say to stay anywhere else would be foolish.

“Perfect location and overall lovely”

We stayed at the Inn for 4 nights at the end of Jan and was picked up from the airport in a comfortable car which was included in the package we booked. I think we would have been shattered trying to find it in the rain had we had to get the bus. Check in was easy and our room was spacious and clean. One downside was the lack of tea/ coffee in room - this wouldn't have cost much and if like me you like tea before bed bring a travel kettle. We were informed that breakfast was a full English however it wasn't (although probably some discrepancy in definition). It consisted of lots of lovely cakes, pastries, cereals and a bit of cold scrambled egg and bacon. What didn't help was the seating- wicker sun lounger type chairs not conducive to sitting up and eating more suited to sitting back and relaxing and quite uncomfortable. The hotel did offer a free buffet in the evening but the drinks were charged and weren't cheap.

The hotel was in the perfect location for all sights and very comfortable after a long day. There is a spar supermarket and a mcdonalds cafe round the corner to solve the tea problem. Lots of lovely restaurants close by near the steps. Lovely designer shops on the same street.

We were due to come home the day after the snowfall and we had booked a private care back to the airport. We were informed on the morning of our departure Franco at reception informed is the cars were not running and we would have to rely on taxis or public transport. Easier said than done when not a taxi in sight and a vey difficult walk with bags to the stations. However Franco and the staff were wry helpful and actually walked out onto the piazza in the snow to find us a taxi. Not the cheapest taxi ride but peace of mind to reach out flight in time. Thank you to all who helped much appreciated.

Overall if I came to Rome again (which I will as it's a beautiful city) I would stay here again but I would not pay for breakfast (25 euros each per day) as not worth it and would like to sit up properly.

“Charm and style in the heart of Rome”

Just off Via Condotti, surrounded by Romes best upmarket boutiques, Inn at the Spanish Steps is a welcome oasis from the bustling streets. The staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. It was my partner's 60th birthday and they helped our family in Australia to organise a surprise bottle of champagne to be delivered to our room. Breakfast on the roof terrace overlooking the historic city rooftops each morning was divine with a plethora of beautiful Italian pastries, salamis, fresh fruit and salads to choose from. If you're not careful it would be easy to just stay on the terrace all day. The rooms are beautifully decorated - even with frescoes on the ceilings - and lovely big rooms. Very good value for money right in the centre of Rome.
