The good first - fantastic location, couldn't ask for better. Awesome rooftop with spectacular views - it was fine to take your own bottle of wine up there and take it all in. Breakfast was no frills, but acceptable.
The rest....my mum and i stayed for five nights in the middle of a very hot summer. Our room was tiny as it was lodged in behind the elevators - so we had the pleasure of listening to the elevators going all night. Worst of all was the heat - our airconditioner did not work - it just blew out room temperature air....after reporting this repeatedly to reception for two days, we gave up and just asked that a fan be provided in the room. The receptionist told us each morning the same thing - that there was no chance to change rooms, he was sorry that the aircon didn't work, and that he would organize a fan. One never materialized. On the last night, the electricity went out across the whole hotel, and we had to lay damp towels across the pillow to keep cool - as my mum is in her seventies, none of this was acceptable. This would be what i expect from a guesthouse in a developing country, not a hotel in a developed one.
The tiny room (we had to squeeze sideways past the foot of the bed to get to the other side of the room), miniscule bathroom, noise from the street and elevator - i can tolerate all this easily, but not the absence of an airconditioner AND fan in the midst of summer, despite repeated requests for either relegates this to one of the worst hotels i've ever stayed at. It was a good lesson though - don't pay everything up front when you book online!
