“A nice and very convenient location but rather disappointed with the rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Good and friendly staff, a very Italian atmosphere, clean rooms, adequate breakfast buffet , nice location;these didn't suffice to make a very good impression to us.We were given two rooms in the ground floor in the garden area. These rooms were much smaller in comparison to the main building rooms. We often heard the TV humming form the adjacent rooms, and a t a couple of times ants crawling. We couldn't, however , ask for an upgrade or for a room change because the hotel was small and almost fully booked, due to the Xmas vacations. The second disappointment came for the very restricted free WiFi access we had, because the management considered logical the fact that free WiFi was supposed to be given only to those booking via intenet directly. But overall we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: try to avoid garden rooms and ask for rooms above the ground floor overlooking the garden. They ar...

“Great location, helpful staff, nice rooms! :)”

I stayed in a room here with my mother and my aunt and uncle also stayed at the hotel. We loved the location of this hotel - very close to Termini - and felt it was a safe and quiet neighbourhood. Compared to other cities, Rome isn't really so big and we did a lot of walking while we were there but through Termini station, a number of sights are accessible using the Rome Metro lines (both lines go to Termini). The hotel staff were helpful in helping us book tours and in recommending places for us to eat and visit and in giving us directions! The free breakfast isn't anything special (I was disappointed with the croissants which were always hard) but it was free and enough to get us started for the day! The staff who also worked in the breakfast area were also very pleasant! There are no mini refrigerators in the rooms but as it was winter when we were there, the shutter doors closed made for a good place to store our water and other things we wanted to keep cool; the bar downstairs is able to provide some ice for guests but it's only a very minimal amount.
I would recommend Hotel Astoria Garden to families, couples or solo travelers as a great place to stay for a reasonable price!

Room Tip: We were on the street facing side but really weren't bothered by traffic however, it could be a...

Initially I was by myself for a night before I met my family. When I stayed single the room was not much bigger than the bed, if you suffer from claustrophobia you would freak out. When I was in the family room that was much better and there was plenty of room considering what they say about European hotels. Breakfast was good, usual ham/cheese/breads and cereals. Staff were nice enough. Hotel is close to the main train station which was good for access to the local areas. Overall, pretty good.

Room Tip: Don't go single room

“Lovely hotel & pleasant service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011 via mobile

We booked through the hotel and received an upgrade to a more spacious room on arrival, free Internet and were able to check in early which was great.

It was very easy to find from termini, and we got the terravision bus to and from the airport which was cheap and hassle free.

The area isn't the greatest, there are very few restaurants nearby, but it is easy to get a metro or a cheap taxi.

Try and get a courtyard room, we had or facing the street and had a bit of noise occasionally from people walking past drunk in the morning.

Breakfast was fine and fresh, could probably do with greater variety each morning though

“So small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

You can see in the picture how small the room is. It works fine if you are there one night. Several nights and two suit cases later, well, its crowded. Our room was quiet as it was facing a small garden. The hotel is also on a quiet side street. Breakfast was good for the price. The staff were very nice. Close to termini---i don't recommend staying in a different area if you have to drag your suitcases through the metro----they have lots of stairs! You can walk to the termini buses, the national museum, the baths of Diocletian, and the Church with St. Theresa in Ecstasy. The neighborhood felt fine late at night. The hotel next to it had a good rating in our travel guide book.
