“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2010

I stayed at the Aquarium with my family last month for 5 nights. The rooms were really big for a 2-star hotel, they cleaned and changed towels every day. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff very nice! Location is great, it´s 1 block away from the Termini train station (there are non-stop trains to Fiumicino every hour)... Subways and buses stop are there too, even though you are just a few minutes walk to many attactions...

“Untrustworthy, refused to honour booking price.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2010

I had booked this hotel through Laterooms in early January 2010 for stay in May 2010 because of its location close to central station.

However, not long after I had booked the room for 59 Euros a night, the hotel emailed me to say they will NOT honour the original booking price. Instead, they want 75 Euros a night.

I had made a complaint through Laterooms and Laterooms did follow it up on my behalf. The resolution they offered to Laterooms was that they will honour the original booking price. When I email the hotel directly to seek their confirmation however, they say they will not honour it. They only offer 70 Euros a night or cancel the booking.

So I suspect they will say anything to please Laterooms with no intention to honour the resolution. Base on the negative booking experience, I have lost faith staying with this hotel and had canceled my booking with them.

“Great stay for a good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2009

I got a deal on this hotel from lastminute.com, and wasn't disappointed. The room was very clean and comfortable. It's right next to the train station -- a fair walk from the sights but great for me as I had to be up early to catch the express train to the airport. Staff were incredibly friendly -- allowed me to check in early and seemed genuinely keen to help. They even packed a breakfast for me because I had to leave early. I spent one other night at one of the other budget hotels nearby, and there was no comparison. I'd definitely stay at Hotel Aquarium again.

“A good hotel for a decent price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2009

We got a friendly welcome upon arrival and the room was clean.
The breakfast is okay if you have a sweet tooth. The neighbourhood isn't really interesting, but the proximity to Termini Station is great.
For high season this room was not very expensive and you definitely get your money's worth.

“Bloody awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2008

Calling this place horrible is an understatement. The decor of the room was nasty and migraine inducing (clearly not been re-decorated since the 1970s), the fabric wallcovering was filthy and smelt. The room only had a small window and was so dark it resembled a prison cell. The aircon did not cool the room, however made enough noise to rival a jumbo jet - if that's what you're after than great if you wish to sleep not so great. The bathroom was tiny and looked like it could fall apart any second, and hot water elusive. (when I told the oger at reception about this, I was barked at and told to go back to my room and wait- naturally as a guest I shouldn't expect hot water- I'm clearly far too demanding) The staff were unhelpful, did not attempt to communicate with the guests, they just grunted or alternatively barked. The towels and sheets looked like they had been through the war, actually the towel was more fray than towel. The bed was like concrete and the pillows flat as pancakes, but i presume they are very concerned about their guests backs. To top off the wonderful night I spent there, the tv in the hotel lounge was on until 2am and the receptionist on night duty was clearly hard of hearing, sadly I'm not. Oh and then there were the bins outside our windows which stank (a pretty amazing achievement to smell bins 2 floors up) and were emptied by a big loud truck at 4am, really gets you into the local atmosphere. I didn't even stay for breakfast, I fled in hope of avoiding an imminent nervous breakdown. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL
