“Good hotel, small room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

When we arrived the staff were helpful and welcoming. They recommended a couple of local restaurants which were good. The room was cold (we stayed when it snowed) and we had to use the blankets provided (there was heating which we used but it was quite noisy). We were also not sure the room was thoroughly cleaned as there were empty shampoo bottles behind the shower screen when we arrived. Having said that breakfast was nice and the hotel was well positioned for the major attractions.

“Very freindly Hotel”

Enjoyed our stay at the Gambrinus in a very cold Feb but the warmth of the staff and in fact the central heating was exceptionally high. Food was great the breakfast was substantial and good quality. The room was very good and done to a high standard. Connections for City were excellent bus stop to Termini right outside hotel. To get there we got a cab from the termini which was a fiver and the rest of the time used the bus services which were cheap and very frequent

“Great hotel for a break in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We found the Hotel Gambrinus to be a great place to stay during a gloriously sunny November weekend in Rome. The location is 10-15 mins walking distance from the train station and slightly away from the main sights but with easy access to the bus right outside, the city is easily accessible. The friendly and helpful staff made our stay enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble, from a map and advice on getting around from Roberta, extra milk for a late evening coffee from the night staff, to the cheerful and attentive Ruel at breakfast. The rooms are adequate in size for a weekend stay but the showers are on the small side as commented elsewhere. This is only a small criticism as overall the hotel is clean and comfortable and good value for money. We would definately use the hotel again during our planned future visits to Rome.

“Comfortable and friendly hotel - perfect for a short getaway!”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gambrinus Rome. Fabio and the other staff were very welcoming and friendly, and easily arranged for a taxi to pick-up and drop-off at the airport. Booked a classic double room, plenty of space and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet selection available at sensible hours.

Bit of a walk to / from the city centre but close to local buses and only a short drive to attractions. Also easy to walk to station where we picked up an open top bus tour of the city, which is highly recommended!

We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone else looking for a stay in Rome. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Classic double room, which is apparently slightly larger than a standard double room, was absolutely...

“Good value, nice location, excellent service!”

We stayed here for three nights from 29th Jan. We were a party of six visiting Rome for my wife's birthday. The hotel is in a decent location, it's walking distance from the Termini, Spanish Steps & the Trevi Fountain (about 20-30 mins from each). The rooms were very nice, small but clean and equiped with everything you need, very comfortable bed and nice decor. The breakfast was very good, everything from cereal, pastries, fruit, bacon, eggs etc. Just what you need to set yourself up for a days sight-seeing (and with prices in Roman cafes/restaurants this is a bonus!). The staff are very friendly and helpful, the receptionists were always on hand to offer advice on bars & restaurants in the area as well as helping with catching buses or organising taxis. A big thanks to our breakfast waiter (I think his name was Raoul?) who sang happy birthday to my wife and then went on to wish her a happy birthday every morning of our stay! A very friendly guy who made an effort to make sure we had everything we needed. My only negative (and it's a very small one) is that the bar ran out of beer! If you're visiting Rome I would strongly recommend staying at the Gambrinus, I hope we return to Rome and stay here again someday (as we threw a coin in the Trevi fountain this will hopefully come true)
