“Home away from home in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 March 2011

We've stayed at this lovely old villa at least five or six times - with our children, with family members, and alone. The staff are courteous, warm and very helpful. The front desk staff speak English - not a given in Italy! The rooms are small, but are air conditioned (essential our first visit in the sweltering summer of 2003). It is a B & B arrangement, and the breakfasts are yummy. They have a sweet little garden where one can have relax after a day of sight-seeing, in the warm Roman evenings; have breakfast under the trees, or entertain guests who stop by for tea, coffee or an evening drink. It's on a direct bus line to the ancient center of Rome and the main train station, or a 10" walk from the Metro. I returned on a business trip, and felt perfectly safe as a woman alone. I would go back anytime and relish the chance.

“Peaceful retreat with interested caring staff”

I arrived later in the evening from a long overseas flight and it was nice to be greeted kindly and efficiently. I stayed in an attic room, it was small but I was on my own and I loved it, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. All the staff were wonderful but I especially liked Maria in the breakfast room she was such a sweetie! The breakfast was very generous and you could enjoy your breakfast or an afternoon wine or beer out in the lovely garden which was a quiet and leafy retreat after a long day walking around the ancient streets of Rome. The location was good, I always prefer to be out a little bit and catch public transport ( 1 euro for 75 mins ) and pay less for my accommodation and be away from the hustle and bustle. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely return to Hotel Villa del Parco!

“Not the worst but too many issues to warrant a repeat stay.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2009

First the bad: Expected air conditioning but the hotel turns it off at the beginning of October because they expect it won't be needed. This necessitates opening the windows for cooling on warm days and that eliminates any possibility of a peaceful stay. The hotel is on a major busy road, so the traffic noise is loud and constant. For the first 2 nights the neighbors alarm kept going off all (I repeat, ALL) night long. To add to the traffic and alarm noise, our room was directly adjacent to the outdoor garden eating/smoking area, so we had that added nuisance all evening. If you stay here, take earplugs, you'll need them. We wouldn't have slept at all without them. The bedspread on the bed was filthy and smelly, but when we put it outside the room, they replaced it with a clean one. Each room seems to be different in size and shape, from tiny to fairly large. Our bathroom was closet size, but I saw 2 others that were more spacious.
But there were some positive things: Enrico, the desk clerk was very gracious, friendly, and helpful. The other staff members were fine too but not quite as personable as Enrico. The breakfast was very nice in looks, taste, and presentation. We enjoyed it very much.
There is a wonderful restaurant with GREAT pizza about 8 minutes walk away. There is a small church with catacombs about 5 minutes away that was worth visiting.

“A taste of Rome Italy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2009

Just returned from a four day three night trip to Rome staying at the Villa del Parco. Although the hotel is a little distance from the center of Rome, the public transport was readily available. We bought a Roma Pass from the hotel for 23 euro each which gave three day access to metro, bus and tram and also gave free access to the first two attractions with reduced entrance cost thereafter. The metro station (Bologna) is about ten minute walk and the metro system is very easy to use. The 84 bus is from opposite the hotel. We had a Superior room at the top of the hotel(lift available), which promoted the character of the hotel and was of a very good and comfortable standard.Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A word of warning if going this time of the year, be sure to take mosquito repellent.

“Lovely Hotel, Hidden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2009

This hotel is our of the hussle and bussle of Rome, just a bus pleasant bus ride from all the main attractions. It is relaxed and the staff are fantastic, they really go out of their way to help you, nothing is too much. Our room was quite compact and you had to pay for the TV but it was comfortable and the bathroom was huuuge with a really great shower - perfect from all the Rome walking! There is a great restaurant within walking distance that they recommended (The Green Pepper) which had the best pizza ever and no tourists, it was really great! I agree that being out of the city isoe of the strong points of this hotel and the price is really good value. The breakfast was good too. Have a great stay in Rome!
