“Unnecessarily disappointing - avoid in summer heat!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2005

I had booked two rooms thru net 2 weeks in advance, we were me and my wife in one and our three adult children in another.

Upon arrival we were given one room that did not match our pre-booking, for one night. No compensation was offered.

On the next day we were shown a new room, matching our booking, and we took it - unfortunately, the previous customer still had her clothes in the closet!

We spent six nights when the summer heat was on, over 30 oC all the time. Great summer. However, the staff, which in the day time consisted of a nice young woman able to communicate somewhat in English, and in the night time of a man who could only Italian, had never been trained to use the remote control of the system. So, every night (every!) the air conditioning went off (probably because of the timer function!)! On three of these nights I woke up to wake up the night ward, who was sleeping happily in his separately air conditioned own room! Having repeatedly explained the problem to the ladies during the day time, the management (who that is, I still don´t know) did nothing to ease our problem.

Breakfast? - there was a cup of coffee and a croisant offered on the 3rd morning....

As an overall impresssion, the ladies tried their best, under the circumstances and the management was never seen. I left my business card with a question "how would you like to compensate us" in vain.

Positive - location is good. Shower ok. Clean room. But, surely there are better alternatives.

“A Very Positive Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2005

Me and my two best friends celebrated our 40th birthdays in Rome this month and stayed six nights in Everest Two in Via Nazionale. Having booked the hotel through the Internet in Finland we were a bit worried beforehand, but it proved to be an excellent choice! First of all, it was situated in the very heart of Rome, so to a lot of places you could go on foot. It was also close to the undergroud stop and a taxi stop. Secondly, the windows were amazingly sound-proof, the street noises didn't much bother us on the third floor at night. The room we had was big enough for three women with three suitcases, and it, as well as the bathroom, were very clean and tidy. The breakfast was served in the livingroom that you see in the picture gallery, or if you wanted, the staff brought it into your room. We all thought the breakfast was good and sufficient. Since Everest Two only had about six rooms, the athmosphere was very intimate, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. It's difficult to understad how some people give so negative reviews about Everest Two. It doesn't kill you to learn some words of Italian before coming to Rome, you know! Not being able to speak English is not same as being rude. If you're not looking for a luxory hotel, but a simple, clean place to stay, Everest Two is your choice.

“forced to put up with it for months”

I have spent a great deal of time at the Everest 2 Hotel while overseas on business. We got to know all of the hotel staff very well and the experiences were good and bad.

The owner was the one to worry about the most because he has no problem sneeking into your room while you are out and going through your personal belongings. He will try to carge you cash, so that he does not have to put it in his books and they will try to collect 5 Euro per hour for internet which is only available in the very small lobby.

Breakfast has to be asked for and then you get crackers and orange juice and do not be surprised if the night manager has friends visit and keep you up half the night with all the noise that they make outside your door.

All in all, This Hotel is convenient to shopping and Termini Station and most tourist attractions, It is located in a safe area but those are about the only good points that I can come up with.

You would be wise to keep looking elsewhere.

Extremely rude unhelpful, dishonest staff who ripped us off. Sleep on the streets before you sleep here.
