“Please Do Not Stay Here, Warning!”

This is not a hotel it is rent-a-room by the hour, if that. We stayed there one night, thankfully. There was hair in the bed, the comforter had all kinds of stains on it, and the shower curtain was old, moldy and looked like it hadn't been replaced in years. The shower walls had black mildew between the tiles, there were cracks in the walls, the paint was chipped and the front stoop leading to the bathroom was missing/broken. The hotel was inside a residential building which had graffiti on the walls and inside the elevator. The stairs leading to the rooms hadn't been cleaned; they were covered with hair and dirt. They were charging for the internet, it’s not free. We would not stay there for free!! Don’t stay here. They go by the names of hotel Planet and hotel Milazzo. Beware don't do it! Worst hotel, worst experience ever my husband asked me to kill him if he fell in the shower, death would be easier to bear. We took a shower with slippers on and left the curtain open, we did not dare to touch it. No joke! They should not offer this place on travel websites, it is a con job! Please burn your money rather than spending it on this hotel. Don’t even think about bringing kids to this place, they will catch something. It’s not even fit for homeless people, they are better off on the street.

“I wouldn't even recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2009

One night at this dreadful hotel was one night too many, I could have cried on entering the "reception area" let alone the bedroom. This had been booked in good faith by our friend (14 of us on a much awaited trip) who had been guided by the photo's shown on the hotel website along with the list of facilities.
Half of the rooms were not ready, even though they had been booked two months earlier, I sat in one of the two chairs in reception and was left with something quite wet & disgusting clinging to my hand. The bedroom was dark, dirty and shabbily furnished. The bed sheets had what looked like moth holes, the shower curtain was covered in mould. The bathroom was so tiny that once you sat on the loo, you could wash your hands in the sink & your feet in the shower, all at the same time! The dressing table unit was chewed at one end and the drawers had telephone numbers, names etc., beautifully scrawled inside in felt pen, giving it the appearance of an old school desk.... ! Breakfast consisted of a scrap of paper to attend a "bar" across the road for a croissant & coffee, with standing room only to consume it.....outside....... luckily the weather was quite pleasant. All of this for the sum of 100 euros per night....what a rip off. Our first night was paid in advance, but by 8 am the next morning staff were phoning our rooms demanding payment in cash for the following 3 nights. Needless to say, our mass exodus of this disgusting hotel promptly took place before 10 am.
Hotel Aphrodite, which is literally around the corner quickly made arrangements to accommodate all 14 of us at very short notice....for 85 euros per night for double room/breakfast. This hotel had lovely clean, well equipped and furnished rooms, which included mini bars, satellite tv, hairdryers etc., The staff were fantastic, attentive & extremely helpful and their continental buffet style breakfast in their roof top dining room was lovely.
In conclusion, Hotel RUBINO should be reported for false representation. It is obvious that we were not the only people to be hoodwinked into parting with a substantial amount of money. We were fortunate that our friend was "switched on" and we didn't meet their demands and pay up front for the remaining 3 nights. Nevertheless they "made" 700 euros from our party on that one night. I felt so sorry for our friend, who had gone to so much trouble to arrange this trip for us as he felt responsible.
If you were on an extremely tight budge, shabby could be accepted for a much, much lower price, but dirty and shabby for 100 euros a night.........never.

“DO NOT STAY AT THE RUBINO !!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2009

The hotel is well placed for the Termini for trains, buses and taxis. A friend booked in our party of 14 for four nights. He paid the first night in advance by credit card. On arrival the rooms were not ready. The rooms were dirty, air conditioning not working and the bathrooms were dirty. Upon arrival staff asked us to pay in full, in cash. Having intended to pay by credit card we had insufficient cash. We pointed out the website stated that credit cards were accepted and payment was due on leaving. Staff were adamant that we obtained the cash to pay in advance. All our rooms and bathrooms where the same and we were charged 100 euros per night. We stayed the night we had paid for and found that breakfast the next day was a croissant and a coffee at the coffee bar across the road with standing room only. We immediately searched for an alternative hotel and moved to The Aphrodite - just round the corner - 85 Euros a night, clean rooms, clean bathrooms and buffet breakfast in the pleasant hotel restaurant. If you have booked & paid you're deposit by credit card then cancel now. Make sure you contact your credit card company to block any further payments or even better cancel your credit card - just in case! The moral of the story is check 'trip advisor' before you travel.

“BEWARE! DO NOT STAY HERE.”

Stay away from here. It's disgusting. I took a party of 14 to Rome for a 4 day cultural tour. We paid the first nights fee in advance by credit card, Fair enough, one would expect that. Upon our arrival they demanded cash in full for the remaining three nights, Tgey stated that they would not accept credit card payments. The rooms were filthy. The showers were broken, the beds were stained and the place was infested with incects. The rooms bore no resemblance to those shown on the website. Further, you get a ticket for breakfast and then you go to a local cafe where you get a breadroll and a cup of coffee. Value 1.5 Euros. You even have to stand up, it's so crowded. At 8.00am after our first night, they were ringing each room up demanding payment for the next 3 nights. This place is a dump. I'm reporting them to the Italian Tourist Board, and we have taken photos of this 'Doss House''. Everything on their website is a false representation as to what you will actually get. Rome is a great city to visit, but a visit here would ruin it. We moved out en-mass. I could see that the receptionist was not suprised. This is obviously a regular event. I could see that she was embarrased. We went to the nearby Hotel Aphrodite. 15 euros a night cheaper, 3 star, clean and modern with a substantial breakfast, taken in an area with access to a roof garden. The hotel RUBINO was truely the worst hotel that I have stayed in, in the whole of Europe. Stay away. You've been warned!

“THE WORST HOTEL ON THE PLANET!”

Disgrace!!! Efforts will be made to get this place shut down. It is a health risk, a fire risk and a personal safety risk. Please do not book or even walk into this place, just look in the elevator, it'll convince you not to stay.

For 85 euro less you can stay 100 yards away in a 3 or 4 star hotel. Please don't make the mistake we did and part with your money to this [--] hole.
