We had a great stay at Hotel Rex. We loved the proximity to the Termini station and all the restaurants that were nearby. We would recommend that travelers be realistic when traveling to Rome as most hotels have smaller rooms than those in the US. The staff was very helpful particularly Francesca who patiently answered all our questions.

We visited Rome for a quick 4 day holiday between the 5th and 8th January. We booked the Rex Hotel through the internet. It proved a good choice. The room was very spacious by city hotel standards, the location couldn't have been better, within a short distance of Via Nazionale, Terminin station and all the sites within walking distance. The Metro is just 5 minutes away. The service was good, with Francesca behind the reception counter being exceptionally welcoming. Breakfast was very reasonable for the price. The only negative was that the rooms are not 100% soundproof and at times guests could be heard moving about the rooms at odd hours, probably moving in or out.

About our stay: We've stayed there for a 5 days in December, the first room we got the first day was not your average 4 stars room, but when we asked for a room change the staff was very courteous and did that immediately. The second room we got was spacious, clean, with a Tv and fridge, a very comfortable bed, and we found very useful the tea kettle, and in the bathroom we had a bathtub too.
Location: It is very near the main train station Termini and on the same street there are 2 ATM's and a traveling agency, and not very far there are different nice little restaurants, some opened until late too. You can walk to sightsee, or you can easily take the metro or buses that cover the whole city(we bought a Roma Pass Card).
Staff: they gave us very useful information about the city, with a city map too, feel free to ask informations about places you want to visit, they have different brochures there at the reception too, and they are always friendly and polite, Francesca was really helpful and kind.
Breakfast: very friendly staff there too, and there's a buffet with a good choice.

Our first visit to Rome, stayed 3 nights, the entire staff was helpful, courteous and friendly - location was great, we were able to walk everywhere to sightsee. Breakfast was included with our stay and met our needs to start off our day. Highly recommend and will definitely book future stays at the Hotel Rex.
