We stayed here as part of our honeymoon through Europe from Dec 16-22. The hotel is amazingly priced and located in central Rome. All attractions are very easily accessed through the metro and the stop is about a 9 minute walk from the hotel in a very non-touristy neighborhood so you get to see some more realistic life of Rome without people hustling you to buy things all the time(which I liked!). We had some issues with checking in because of some stupid things Priceline did (do NOT book through Priceline!) but after that it was smooth sailing.
All of the staff were very helpful and spoke great English. After getting nickel and dimed to death in Europe this place was great! Free breakfast (with bacon and eggs, milk, juice, pastries, not just crappy muffins and such like most "continental" breakfasts), free wifi, free use of the business center with free printing, free coffee, tea, hot cocoa via the machine in the lobby, it was a great way to save some money.
We met up with some people on a day trip to Pompeii who were pissed at how their hotel was treating them, we told them about our hotel and all the free things we got, they got none of the things we did for free. I believe it was the I.Q. that even made them PAY for plastic cutlery to go with the meal they ordered! The hotel was not necessarily in a better location (still city center just like this one BUT in a super touristy area) and they were paying 290 EUROS A NIGHT! We booked the Picadilly for 80 a night, got all the freebies, and were just as centrally located as them!!
The room we got was on the 8th floor (top floor where they serve breakfast) so sometimes it did get a little noisy but for me who is a light sleeper, I was never bothered (they start breakfast at 7am and I was always able to sleep through any noise), I just noticed some small noise when I got up. People were very respectful that there were rooms right next to the dining area. The only noise that is a little annoying is the street noise but that can't be helped. Constantly ambulances and police sirens are going off but thats the price you pay for being in central Rome and having that gorgeous view. (though it is a nice area I promise). The room had the most amazing views of Rome but it was a little more dated than some of the smaller rooms I've seen them advertise. The photos of those are very modern and nice but this room needs a bit of a facelift. It was spacious though and very comfortable for a couple with 2 large suitcases and 2 carryon suitcases
The only reason why I don't give this hotel 5 stars is that like I found in most of the adventures in Europe, the bed and pillows were terrible. The bed in 802 is a murphy bed so you can't really expect much. Also, the room has only a shower, as a bath person this was a big bummer for me especially because we were staying here for the longest time of our whole trip. If they fixed the faclift needing, crappy bed having and not bathtub having, this would for sure be a 5 star review!
Despite those little gripes I personally had, it's a great hotel and I WILL be back for sure! :)
