“Glad we only had to stay one night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

This was the last hotel we stayed in for one night on our tour before our flight out of Rome the next morning. When we arrived the bus could not get to the front of the hotel due to on street parking and we had to haul our luggage a block and a half to the hotel. The elevators were so small that you could only fit a couple of folks or a couple of pieces of luggage at the time. We had to send up the luggage and then run up several flights of stairs to get it when the door opened. I guess we were lucky to only be on the third floor. We were ina triple and the room was small and overlooked the street. There were bars on the windows but the neighborhood area seemed to be safe. We had a terrible time getting the air conditioning unit to work and the toliet hung up on the first flush and would not stop running and the water closet was up next to the ceiling so you could not get into fix it. The shower had only a half glass so the bathroom was a mess after the first shower which we had to take right away after hauling up our suitcases and having no air conditioning. The staff at the desk was friendly and checking in was no problem but they seemed to have only one person working who could not leave the desk so the water ran in our room for hours. Finally around 11pm another person came in and was able to reduce the toliet flow but it never totally stopped. By the time we hauled down our luggage in the morning I was in no mode to wait for the three person elevator to take us to the top for breakfast so maybe I missed the best part of the hotel but I was ready to leave. Internet was available in the lobby but not in the rooms. There were a couple of restuarants in the area and a nice bakery that I found on the morning we left but be prepared to find transportation if you are staying for any length of time. I suggested tot he tour group that they find another location that can accomodate groups.

Room Tip: Ask for the larger room which I was told were a lot nicer that the typical rooms

“Nice Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Carlo Magno is nice and comfortable hotel. It's clean and peaceful place.

Hotel is not in Rome Center but not far away from City Center hustle and bustle. Close to the hotel is the bus stop. Every few minutes there is bus that takes you right into City Center. 5 mins bus ride.

Hotel is easy to reach from Airport. Take the train from Aiport and get down at station Nomentana. From station it's 10mins walk to hotel

Nothing fancy about the hotel. But it's good for the people traveling on a budget vacation

Personnel is very nice. Hotel looks a bit outdated but, regardless, represents excellent value for the money. I will recommend and will stay there again.

“Good choise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

Hi,
i've been in this hotel at the beginning of May and i found it very good for the following reasons:
1) Nice room, clean, and silent as clean was the bathroom. Not the bigger bathroom out there but well refurbished in amenities and towels (changed daily).
2) Good staff both at the reception and breakfast room. Professional and helpful.
3) breakfast room is breathtaking as it is at the top floor with a large terrace that has a awesome view over the roofs and beyond up to the far mountains. Breakfast itself was good with many choises in term of quantity and quality: cereals, cakes, yogurt, fresh fruits, croissant, bread and italian coffee to start the day!
4) free internet corner in the lounge and free WI-FI connection allow you to be on line whenever you need. Ask the kind staff for password.
5) City center is not far. A regular bus service just outside connect you with Piazza Venezia or Coliseum in a while.
6) Good choise of restaurant and cafè all around the properties. Also Pizzerias close by.

So a positive stay for sure if you ask me. I would suggest to stay here when in Rome.
Paula

I stayed at the Carlo Magno hotel with my girlfriend at the beginning of april .We had a double room which was very spacious and clean with safe boxe for our personal belongings. The staffs at the hotel were very friendly and the breakfast in the morning was very good whith cereals, cheese, yoghurts, cakes and croissants. Nice restaurant at the top of the hotel with nice view.Tickets for the bus number 90 are available newsagents at the bottom of the street. The hotel staff will give you all the details the bus took no longer than 15/20 min to reach Piazza Venezia free internet corner in the lobby an free wi fi at the ground floor.
