“Great Hotel in Front of a Bus Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

If you've ever been to Rome you know that public transportation is very important. Well this hotel has a bus stop almost right in front of it. It allows you quick access to the main parts of the city. I took the bus to the Colosseum area and/or the train station stop.

I put that out there first because the hotel is not in the "walls" of Rome. It's right outside of them, by the Gardens. The hotel itself is very nice and modern. They are going through a renovation as the desk told us they were bought out by Hilton. There was some really loud noise coming from the room beside us the morning we were checking out. They were completely redoing the room next door. I am not going to mark them down for that because I applaud the effort to upgrade the hotel. The room is very modern and pretty roomy. Be sure to check out the large market (Tigre) across the street. My girlfriend and I went here multiple times to get local Italian food. The prices there are very cheap.

The area it is in was really pleasent and only a bus ride away from the main tourist areas, Room was comfortable, clean, pleasant aspect from our room good and we had wifi. Breakfast just right but lifts mind bogglingly slow...... "reception" sour, surly and the women thought they were too good to deal with customers.... "welcome to Rome" flashed through my mind, its just a good job we did meet to some nice people elsewhere or this would have made Rome a bad, experience. Conclusion hotel fine, reception needs new staff!

“Perfect location, quiet and 1 bus away from city centre. Wonderful staff.”

We stayed at the Hotel Claridge for 4 nights in January. We arrived late and the gentleman on the bar kindly rustled us up a couple of pizzas. After a stressful delayed flight this was more than a warm welcome!
Breakfast each morning was fab, great selection of hot and continental on offer. The waitress was particularly charming with our 1 year old daughter.
Literally outside the front door we found a bus/tram stop that took us straight to the colluseum in one direction and to the Vatican in the other.
The reception staff were always helpful with giving us directions etc.
The pizzas were great too!

My only minor complaint is that the room was a little warm for us but I attribute that to me liking a cold bedroom!

“Not a 4 star experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

I recently visited the hotel with my family and was quite disappointed by the experience. The heating system is centralized and rooms get extremely hot - with the rooms facing south becoming extremely overheated by the sun shining on the windows which do not have a protective UV film. Shower is not working properly with water being either too hot or too cold and changing depending on water pressure. Floors are not properly cleaned with balls of dust found everywhere on the floor and in general lots of dust on the surfaces. Definitely not a 4 star experience.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms exposed to the sun, they overheat during the day.

Dear Cidonio,
Thank you for your comment.
We would like to apologize about the discomfort you have suffered during your stay however we wish to underline that our staff is always careful to our guests' needs and we are sure that if you reported your dissatisfaction they would have been pleased to come forward to your requests. We were quite upset to read about the dust that you quote was present in the room as one of our priorities is and has always been to keep high cleanliness standards in our hotel and that can be easily proven by reading the many reviews here on TripAdvisor that report the exact contrary of what you wrote.
Kind regards.

“Great hotel but a bit far from everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011 via mobile

This is the second time I have stayed here and I really like it. Hotel is clean and safe and well maintained. Breakfast is included and kept me going most of the day. Free expresso from the bar during breakfast hours.
There is a small sauna and steam room which are nice to use after walking all day. Villa Borghese garden is just down the road - there is a zoo if you have kids. Do visit the Galleria Borghese. It is amazing. The Berninis take your breath away. Buy a ticket in advance.
Hotel provides maps and also transit directions to get everywhere. I often walked through the park to the Spanish Steps and beyond.
If it is raining, hotel provides umbrellas. Another nice touch.
Andrew
