“Clean old school hotel great view for breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Had a nice experience at Eliseo. It is just around the corner from Via Veneto.
The hotel is clean, the staff is nice and the room was small-medium. Exactly what we needed.
The view from the dining room on the 6th floor is amazing!!!
The only disadvantage for us was the location (near Via Veneto), which may be an advantage for others - we hung out in different areas of the city...

“Excellent Location and Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Clearly from the reviews, this hotel isn't for everyone. If your priorities are location and value, though, this may be the hotel for you. You can walk most anywhere except the Vatican or Coliseum, and the staff will give you clear instructions to get to those by bus. Also convenient to the subway. Yes, the rooms are small and outdated by American standards; Europeans call that charming. Ours had a balcony overlooking the Villa Borghese gardens. The staff were lovely, and made us great dinner reservations each night.

“Good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We stayed there in October. It is a typical rome hotel. Bed rooms small and dark and a little dated. However rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast room is on the 6th floor abnd the views are spectacular. Breakfast was reasonable with a good range if food. The staff were approachable and helpful. Santini the barman is a fun guy and very helpful. The location of this hotel is excellent. 8 mins walk to spanish steps. The metro is 100 meters away and the 116 bus stops just outside and will bring you via the pantheon to the vatican. I stay in hotels on a regular bases and this hotel is really ok.

“Shockingly awful hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

I am sorry to have to write this review but I felt compelled to do so, as I do not wish for others to be as disappointed as we were.

I can only echo the comments of some of the other raters above and it is unfortunate that others have also had such a horrible experience - I honestly hoped the taxi was dropping us off at the wrong hotel, as the entrance to the hotel was dark, dingy and most unwelcoming. This feeling was echoed inside, with terribly old decor and lack of customer service upon arrival.

As we were visiting Rome as part of a very special celebration for us, we had booked a four star hotel. However, this hotel does not even deserve one star in my opinion - the first room we were given was tiny, dark, dirty, full of damp and was absolutely disgusting, it made me want to be sick. We complained to Citalia and were moved to a different room - apparently better - yes, slightly larger but still full of dubious stains / mould / worn out to say the least. We suffered an unfortunate event with leaks (reading above, this seems to be a frequent occasion, worryingly!) and were not treated well, having to call the travel company again --- we were offered another room - yes, three moves in one afternoon - supposedly their "best" - still not great, mould patch outside the bathroom, worn out, stained headboard, rips, stains to say the least.

Breakfast was dreadful - watered down "juice", not fresh, I could barely eat anything. The coffee was awful, did not taste at all fresh and like Italian coffee should!

Staff generally were rude and unhelpful.

We were so pleased to check out of this hotel and I hope other people will avoid it like the plague, if they want a decent hotel to return to after the long days out.

“Quite a good location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2011

I don't know how this hotel has 4 star rating. The place is very dated , such as Via Veneto , a beautiful place but not fashioned anymore. The staff was quite rude , excepted Claudio , a very nice guy always trying to help you in finding programs , restaurants, etc. the location of breakfast was lovely ,with a beutiful view in the 6th floor. byt the bread not so well.

Room Tip: The rooms finished with 10. Larger as possible and silent
