“bellisimo”

Again, after reading other reviews on this site, I was very nervous about our trip to the Sistina Hotel, and again my worries were unfounded. This Hotel is probably one of the most central in Rome, close to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Via Veneto and many, many more beautiful places. We had a beautiful room and loved every second of our stay. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast substantial enough to keep us going until 3pm in the afternoon when we stopped walking and had a late lunch in one of the many taverna's. All in all a wonderful experience and we will definately stay there when next we travel to Rome.

“Excellent location, good value for money, staff speak english”

Our holiday was purely cultural. The hotel was situation right in the heart of Rome. One side the Spanish Steps and the other side Piazza Barberini. Excellent location. Barberini Metro was only 2 minutes away by walk. There were also 2 or 3 Tavola Calda in the same street, quite convenient. Rooms are comfortable and quite spacious. Bathrooms clean with amenities included. The room had a TV and a telephone as well as a mini bar. All the staff spoke English and were very polite as well as friendly. Breakfast was abundant and well presented. We were there the week before Christmas and the rates we paid were great. Good value for money. Would recommend the hotel to anyone.

“Horrible, the heating doesn't work, nasty smell in the lobby, impolite receptionist”

I staiyed in this hotel about 2 weeks ago, for a week. At first they gave me a room at the last floor of the hotel, the 4th floor, a small room, where I could'nt have natural light, there was dust in the room, and the in the bathroom there was no heating, it was frosty and the doors from the shower cabin couldn't be closed properly. It was impossible for me to sleep in such horrible conditions. The next day, I asked to change my room and they gave another, from the third floor, that was better than the other. But the big problem here, was that i had heating only for 2 nights out of 6, although outside there it was very cold (-6/-8 Celsius degrees night). What i liked least it was that in a rainy night, it started to rain in my room also. It oozed water through my ceiling because at the 4th floor, above my room there was the terrace of the hotel.
What I liked best it was the breakfast at the hotel, that was diversified and especially the cakes were delicious. Also, the location of this hotel is very good, right in the city center, at 2 minutes from the underground and also from the bus station.

“Well Located Hotel, Small rooms but clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

I visited the Hotel Sistina for one night. The room was a single and was on the smallish side. However the bed was quite comfotable and the A/C copped perfectly well with the very hot temperatures in Rome at the time. The bathroom was also small, especially th shower and in fact I had to dry myself in the bedroom area and not in the bathroom due to the lack of space. Breakfast was very good and had a good mix of food. Overall not a bad experience.

“This hotel is old, tired and smelly and badly needs refurbishing.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

I have stayed here a couple of times now and have never got the room I requested. The breakfast is poor and the coffee would have to be the worst in Italy if not the world. Do you believe they have an espresso machine but stew up some vile brew in the back kitchen.
