“Very overpriced, poor customer service, disappointing honeymoon!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012 via mobile

Having just spent my honeymoon in Rome at Parco dei Principi, I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience to those considering staying at this hotel.

The food and drink prices are extortionate, e.g. minibar 50cl water - €9, 33cl can of coke - €20!!! At the lobby bar, we were shocked when charged €20 for a tiny chocolate mousse (not on the menu). Hotel Restaurant food was good but again very overpriced and portions are small - we were snowed in so we had no choice but to eat here. Breakfast buffet had a selection of pastries, fresh fruit and cereals, but food was not refreshed every morning and at €17 was definitely not good value for money.

Prince Spa was the only good thing about this hotel, but the culture of trying to squeeze money out of you continues - water machines were not working in gym or pool area so we had to pay for water, if you want to use the pool you are required to purchase a swimming cap for €6.

Overall, service from concierge was ok but we felt as if we were a burden whenever asking for anything. The night before check out I requested to pay my bill before going to bed since we were leaving very early the next morning. The concierge staff said it would be a nuisance as he had "already begun closing the till for the day" and asked if I could wake up 20 mins earlier. I said this would be an inconvenience for me (remember this is my honeymoon!!!) at which point he became angry, said that I "was being difficult" and then hung up on me! This really upset me and I was not given an apology by him in the morning upon leaving the hotel.

This is the first review I have ever written but I felt I must share this with others as I would have thought twice had I read this first. Good luck!

“Fantastic hotel”

Just got back from four days in Rome for my wife's birthday. The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the centre but that's no big deal as you can walk through the beautiful Borghese park.
The staff were always polite and very welcoming and the buffet breakfast excellent. The Prince Spa was unbelievable and so relaxing after many hours sightseeing in Rome. I could not fault the hotel or its staff in any way.
I would definitely recommend this hotel as great value

We were on New Year eve 2012 in that hotel .The hotel is in a very nice area in the Borghese park with 10 minutes to Piazza del Popolo and 15 minutes nice walking to the Spanish Steps. The main attraction of this hotel is SPA. It is a huge area with a big swimming pool, Swedish shower and iced fountain. You can not go the SPA from a hotel elevator and it is maybe a little bit inconvenient to cross a main lobby in a robe so we had to take all changing clothes with us . They have outdoor swimming pool but it was a winter time so we did not have a chance to use it.
The room is not big but a good size for the family of 2 adults and 1 child. We have a view to the zoo so everyday we can see zebras walking around :). The breakfast doesn’t have a big selection but there is no restaurant or café within 5 minutes walking distance so actually the hotel is the only way to have a breakfast.
One day we were tied after walking around Rome and decided to have a dinner in the hotel and we were very delighted for our decision. The dinner was perfect.
It is a very nice 5 star hotel and I think next time we will be definitely stay there.

“Wonderful for swimmers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

If a regular swim is important for your holiday enjoyment, this has got to be the hotel of choice in Rome. The indoor pool is absolutely fabulous, possibly the best we have ever encountered in a hotel, and there are additional spar facilities in a very smart health club attached to the hotel that guests can use free(for the pool) Like many other good hotels in Rome it has an outdoor pool, but that is not much good at this time of year.
The hotel itself is also very smart; our room was excellent and bottom of the range; the lobby area and bar very comfortable and plush and the staff were very helpful. We also really enjoyed the walk into Rome across the park, and the return taxi fares were not prohibitive.
We particularly appreciated the lengthy and spectacular Fire Work display they laid on in the grounds to mark the New Year; sadly there were not many other guests who did.
It is true to say that the prices in the restaurant looked far too high and we did not use it but otherwise this is a hotel we will try and come back to when we can.

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location, right on top of Borghese Park. I enjoy walking through the park each morning on my way to visit the antiquities in Rome. You do need to take a taxi back to the hotel after dark though, the park has very little lighting. Local restaurants are great - Fiori di Zucca makes the best pizza I've ever eaten. The only negative is the spa - during my visit there were a lot of families with children who lets their kids play in the spa area as if it were an outdoor pool. The noise was hideous and caused me to stay away from the area for my entire stay.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the pool are quiestest.
