“Great location; Poor Service”

The location was perfect, the room was clean and nice. My review for this hotel would be better but the concierge staff really were not good. I had asked for a dinner at an authentic Italian restaurant and was directed to a really poor restaurant full of American tourists. It was terrible and when I complained the front desk staff mocked me and said I was not going to find any hotel in Rome without American Tourists. Using my guidebook - I was able to find several restaurants where I was indeed the only American in the room - which was welcomed.

If you stay here and they advise you to go the restaurant around the corner - tell them no thanks unless you want a subpar experience at a very high price.

As a Marriott Gold member, I would not stay at this hotel again given the quality of the front desk staff and would recommend other hotels in the area (the Westin) instead.

“Comfortable and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Just finishing a 5 night stay here on Marriott points. The hotel is in a great location, it's like a big country house rather than a corporate Marriott, rooms are clean and comfortable and staff are friendly and helpful. There's a few things missing like tea/coffee-making facilities in rooms, no Executive lounge, only 1 restaurant with an extremely limited menu (there is a rooftop breakfast-only venue with a nice buffet). But the building has class, the hotel is easy to travel to and from and many of the attractions of Rome are within walking distance. Beware of pickpockets in the nearby Metro station. There are gangs of thieves, usually with a baby, who jostle you and block you and the next thing you know your wallet is missing - it happened to me but fortunately a bystander helped me recover my wallet (minus cash). Best thing to do is put your wallet in your jacket inside pocket or buy one of those pouches which goes around your neck so you can put it inside your shirt.

Room Tip: It's only six floors but the higher floors on the Via Veneto side have a nice view.

The staff could not be more accommodating. Large well appointed room with king bed. Food in restaurant was excellent. Definitely will come back.

“Great Stay!”

We stayed at the Grand Flora in early Dec and it was definitely one of the best hotels during our entire vacation in Italy. The room though a little small by US standards, was clean and beautiful with all the amenities expected from a hotel of this ranking. The staff was extremely helpfull with every request and we loved our breakfasts at the roof top terrace. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Rome.
