“Great hotel - good location & fabulous staff”

Three of us stayed at Hotel Galileo for three nights starting Boxing Day this year.

The location is brilliant. Like other reviews have said, just a short walk from Termini station and we even found we were able to walk to all major sites such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain etc too. The only time we needed to get transport was when visiting the Vatican. However, this was not a problem at all. The area the hotel is located in was great also, right in the city but no noise!!

The hotel itself was lovely - exactly what you need. Yes, our room was slightly on the small side but our large en suite made up for this. The rooms were extremely clean and had excellent facilities. Continental breakfast is served in a large breakfast room which leads outside. Breakfast was lovely!

However, the best part of this hotel was by far the staff. Always there to greet you with a massive smile, they were more than happy to go out of their way to help you with whatever you needed. The even went as far as arranging for the owner of a local restaurant we were planning on eating at to pick us up & drop us off. They were an absolute delight!

One final note is regarding the tax. Some have complained about this & I'd just like to state that this has nothing to do with the hotel. Tax is paid at a rate of €2 per night for each tourist staying in Rome city. This was clearly outlined to us when booking and was also stated on the notice board within the hotel itself.

A great time was had at Galileo & I'd definitely recommend. I'll also definitely be staying here on my next visit to Rome!

“Great hotel, good location”

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days it's located near Castro Petrorio Station or 5-10 mins walk to Termini and 10-15 mins walk to Republika. The hotel was clean and neat and the breakfast is good. There's also a Pinoy restaurant closeby "Pinoy Fast Food" where we used to eat for dinner. Location is perfectly safe since on the corner there's always a military personnel probably guarding the embassies. Also the check-in time is after 1:30pm, but they're kind enough to store our belongings and we went out for a stroll.

Pros: Great value for money, location (with small children it's better if the station is close by), Breakfast is good. Room is clean and neat. Staff are always smiling and helpful.

Cons: The partition between rooms is not sound proof, so you can hear ppl from other room.
Shower area is small, if you're fat you're probably not going to fit.

“Great Hotel, good location”

My brother and I stayed in this hotel a couple of weeks back at the end of a 2 week trip in Italy. Good location 10 min walk to the Termini station & only a few to a local metro. Easy to get to all the sites in Rome. Great sized twin room at the end of a corridor.
Have to say that Florin on reception was fantastic, always welcoming and he was very helpful when requested to find me a gluten free restaurant in the city. (There a 3 for those that wish to know. Also an amazing Farmarcia with a whole floor of gluten free products to buy on the corner near the Hotel). The housekeeper on our floor always greeted us with a huge smile when we saw her.
Overall would highly recommend this Hotel & would definately stay again.

“perfect hotel for the price and location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

just came back from a fab trip to rome. stayed at this hotel for 5 nites. excellent location- 10 min walk from termini station, banks and stores right near by. hotel was in a very nice area. we came back at midnite sometimes and always felt perfectly safe. staff was very pleasant. rooms were very clean. bed was very comfortable. breakfast was lovely, tho it only started at 7:30- a bit late for those who like to get an early start. price was reasonable. rooms were a bit small but sufficient. not too much closet/shelf space for unpacking. no shelf or counter in the bathroom, which was a little inconvenient. floor is not too comfortable to stand on- some kind of vinyl covering over cement. but all in all, i would most definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to others.

“pathetic hotel with hidden tax”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

The partition between the rooms is not a concrete structure. One can even listen to people snore in the night with no privacy to talk normal. The rooms are dark and lack in ventilation and air. The hotel has obligatory hidden tax before depart. The reception staff lacks in manners. I would strongly not recommend this hotel.

Dear Sir,

We are sorry that you did not feel comfortable in our hotel, but please allows us to point out the following situations:
- The room assigned to you is exposed to the south and has a terrace, so it is extremely bright;
- The city tax has been communicated at your arrival at the hotel and we confirm that this tax is collected by the municipality;
- The hotel staff as well as that of the reception is a very good staff as can be seen from the many positive reviews on tripadvisor since 2006.

Yours sincerely,
The Owner
