“Fantastic location, comfortable and clean”

This hotel is situated in a perfect position near the Tiber river, so you can walk to The Vatican, Prati and Trastavere neighbourhoods and also all the historic areas of central Rome. There is a bus route at the door to Termini Rail Station and Colosseum if you do not like to walk this far. The roof top terrace with seats and tables, is a bonus, with its amazing views over Rome; as is the Breakfast room with the same views. The Continental breakfast buffet provides a large choice and plenty of food. Staff are helpful and friendly. Our room had a safe, very useful, and the bed was comfortable and bathoom clean. Unfortunately the room heaters could not be adjusted, they were either off or on. We were there at Christmas and it was quite stifling in the room. Also we had a front room over the street, which was noisy at night. Apparently Europe does not provide tea/coffee making facilities in any hotel, B&B and this was no exception. However we stayed 5 nights and did enjoy our time there.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main road would be quieter.

“So So”

The Genio is in a great position near Piazza Navona, The noise from outside and from within the hotel is extreme, we could hear the next room using the bathroom and shower, (we were in 303), you could hear conversations from other rooms as you walked past.
The roof terrace has some great views towards the Vatican and the city and is worth the extra few steps, keep going around the roof to a spiral staircase and go up them, the view is great.
The shower was hard to get right too hot or too cold, black mould in the bathroom. The maid just walked into the room without knocking. There is free WIFI but was very slow.
Breakfast was OK. There is a free left luggage area (not very secure as you are left in there by your self with other luggage there), there is a very handy safe in the room (not big enough for a lap top but great for passports money camera etc). Front house staff were helpful. Taxi rank outside 10 euro to Terimini Station 30 euro to Ciampino Airport. No A/C working room was very warm (in January) buses to most places suggest you download a bus app. There are loads of restaurants in the area some great value and some high class ones.
I paid 85.00 euro per night double room (2 single beds pushed together) good value for Rome. The bar behind reception is not a talking point, but there is a well equipped mini bar, a supermarket around the corner has water for 18 cent and a liter of wine 2 euro, I took their stuff out and put ours in the fridge. Summary 4* no, 2* at best.

Room Tip: Location, Location, Location... Find the spiral stairs on the roof, great view. Use the supermarket...

“Perfect for our three night break”

WE stayed here for three nights, it's in a great location, the staff are friendly, the breakfast is great and the rooms are comfortable! Within walking distance to ALL the sights. We found an amazing tratorria in La travestere called la Frashetta, amazing food at very reasonable prices, don't leave it too late or you'll have to que.

Just round the corner from Piazza Navona. Hotel Genio is very clean. Plenty of restaurants and all the big sights in walking distance.

“Great Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Last month (Nov. 2011) we spent 5 days at this centrally located Rome Hotel. We booked online so we really didn't know what it would be like since photos are often misleading. This time they weren't! And we didn't realize the good price included a large delicious buffet breakfast. There are back rooms that are dark but they let us look at several and we picked a top floor which was sunny & bright. The same rooms lower down were dark because they faced other buildings. We looked over tile rooftops. The front rooms would all be bright but they were on the street, which might have been noisy. Oh, and free wi-fi if you have your own computer. Lobby computer charges. We will definitely go here again if we go to Rome. This hotel is only a 2 min. walk to Piazza Navona--it doesn't get better than that!

Room Tip: Go for the top floor in the back, quiet & a nice bright view.
