“You Get What You Pay For. The Kennedy Was OK.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Me and my husband spent 4 nights at the Kennedy last week and found it to be OK. The room was very clean which was my main concern. however it did need with an update (the bathroom was not great and TV didn't work for example). Staff were friendly and helpful, however didn't offer to help with bags or anything. Breakfast was OK, very basic but it kept us going. I would give this hotel 3* however if i were to go back to Rome again I probably wouldn't stay here again. But what we paid it suited us fine and we were out most of the day.
Location is really good, short walk from Termini station and I found it to be quiet and night, some really good restaurants near by also.
If your looking for someone clean and to rest your head at night the Kennedy offers just that.

“Pleasant stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We had two rooms in January 2012 (my husband, me, two sons). We visit Rome frequently and have never lodged near Termini. We typically stay in 3 star hotels near Piazza Navona or the Spanish Steps. We have, on occasion, upgraded significantly to other hotels.

We were hesitant to do this but we received the rooms through a package with British Airways and determined we would give it a try. We found the front desk staff extremely accommodating. They were helpful with booking a car to the airport as well as following up on restaurant reservations for us. They were very courteous whenever we spoke with them.

The rooms are dark and dated. The shower in our room was decent and the size was very suitable. My children complained that their shower felt like pellets. We felt that the rooms and bathrooms were clean. There was a lot of street noise throughout the night (we were on the first floor) particularly a lot of garbage trucks/street sweepers CONSTANTLY driving by.

For breakfast I just ate a yogurt and ordered a cappuccino each morning. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the cappuccino.

The location near Termini was nice for us to be able to walk over in the morning and catch a taxi to where we wanted to start our day. We returned back each night via taxi, and the front desk was also happy to call for a taxi for us to take out to dinner. We also felt somewhat safe walking over to Termini at night to buy bottled water.

I believe the room contained no safe which concerned us but we had no issues.

Overall, if this were given to us in a package we would stay again.

Room Tip: I think I would opt for higher floors to try to escape street noise.

Dear Guests Salcantay ,
thank you very much for sharing your experience at Hotel Kennedy. It's nice to be appreciated as staff and we are happy that you liked our cappuccino :-).
The hotel every year does maintenance of all the rooms in order to update it, it is possible that you were in one not yet done. We'll hope to have the opportunity to see You again here in Rome.
For what concerns the noise during the night, as in the center there isa lot of traffic during the day, the AMA company is used to clean the streets and it collects the garbage during the night . Unfortunately the hotel cannot do anything about it. Sorry about it.
Thank you again and kind regards

“Clean but uncomfortable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The beds feel plastic like and are extremely uncomfortable.
The breakfast is disgusting.
Our room had a faulty fan in the bath room that was so loud I was hesitant to use the bathroom at night.
The reception staff were rude and on one occasion responded that they were 'very busy' when asked for help.
The tv was prehistoric with fuzzy reception.
The so called 'wi fi' came at a charge and only worked in the lobby despite advertising otherwise.
Close to station but be careful of your belongings - dodgy area

“Great hotel for the budget conscious traveller”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2011

We stayed here for a week in December 2011 and had a great stay.
Rooms were comfortable, clean and tidy, of average size, with heating and cooling and double glazed windows to keep out the noise of busy Rome.
Front office staff spoke excellent English and were very courteous and helpful at all times.
Kitchen staff also great.
Breakfast typical European and with a barista to make excellent coffee.
Hotel is situated less than 5 minute walk from Termini station which is the hub for all train, bus and Metro transport around Rome. Colosseum is an easy 20 minute walk from hotel.
There are many large and small restaurants, pizzerias etc within a 5 minute walk and top shopping areas within 10 minute walk.
Would definitely stay here again.

“Overhelpful staff except when help is needed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

A hotel very much in need of updating and refurbishment with thermostats that do not work resulting in overheated rooms, cold running water, televisions which do not work and cheap almost inedible breakfasts of stale bread, processed cheese, tinned fruit and burnt coffee. Too much information offered on arrival by overhelpful receptionist even when it was obvious to him that this was not desired or needed, but when asked to sort out problems with the rooms he was not helpful. A change of room was only obtained when the desirability of a refund was mentioned. Convenient location.
