“Great value and excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2011

The Doria is a great value three-star hotel in a convenient location, close to the station and within walking distance of most of Rome's main sights. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and rooms are of a really good standard given the price.
The hotel is situated on a busy main road so the location is a little noisy, but shutters and triple glazing mean noise from the street is substantially reduced.
A lovely, friendly hotel that's perfect for a cheap and cheerful visit to the Eternal City!

“Never stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2011

At least faulty towers was funny. there was nothing funny about this place at all.

!) the staff were very ignoranat except for one older man with glasses who was nice. i wanted to bring a friend up to see how small my room was and the man at the desk wouldnt let him

they made me pay up front

i came in late often (2.30 am) as i was having a good time on holidays and the door man made a point of saying that i was the last one in. i thought i was paying for the room for 24 hours and should be allowed in when i liked.

2) the cleaning staff made an awafull racket every day from about 7m to 12noon.

there was no "please do not disturb" notice on the door and there was someone knocking on my door every morning

i had to go and look for toilet paper after the 3rd day-there was only half a roll there when i arrived

3) there wasnt hot water in the shower on any occasion i tried to use it

there was a smell of sewage in the room

“Small, smaller, smallest on a perfect location”

Hotel Doria is a basic but ok hotel on a perfect location near Termini station. The rooms are small, and the shower must be the smallest I have ever seen, but everything is clean. They clean the whole hotel everyday. The breakfast is basic, with quite some variation, but no really fresh products, although the caffe latte is really nice. The thing with the hotel is, they charge quite an amount for the room, which makes you expect more then a basic hotel, but I guess its mostly the location you pay for. All in all we had a nice experience in this hotel.
One piece of advise, always ask for a room with a roomnumber ending on a 4 (104, 204 etc.). The first night we stayed in room 303, in which we tried to sleep, but we both didnt really manage to fall asleep, because of the noise coming from the cars, trucks, buses etc. that are driving on the really busy Via Merulana. The next morning we asked for another room and they arranged that right away. This room wasnt on the roadside and therefore was really nice and quiet. Also the room was a bit more spacious and had a bigger bathroom.

The hotel as a whole was pleasant. Convenient enough arrangement, isn't far from the basic sights.Rooms are small, but cozy enough. However the unfriendly relation of the personnel categorically wasn't pleasant. At an extract from hotel our things have taken out from number without our consent, have shouted that late we come and have told that after 11 o'clock in the morning, we are not a guest any more... It is sad that in the most beautiful and such romantic city of the world there are such ugly employees of hotel. Never any more to a train in this hotel and to you I do not advise

Dear Madam, First of all thank you for having remembered to write.
First, remember that the suitcases were already made and closed in the room. Some customers are waiting for someone from the staff to take and bring them in storage, which I did, however, waiting for the check out time . The two bags were kept in our store closed and well cared for as you had left them in the room, the check out is at 11 and you and your guest have returned well over and we have only kept, otherwise after check out you would have to pay an extra day as to the table regularly posted in the room and written in different languages.
Second, we you did charge you any euros for the second person who stayed with you , because to save 45 euro per day, you have made the reservation for one person and occurred in two.
But it can happen to forget something , like it happened to you , especially to write the truth.
For the rest of untrue things written, it seems strange that you didn ' t complain to the reception during your stay.
Regards

“Great Staff and good location.”

Stayed four nights and although the shower and toilet were a little small, by Rome standards this hotel was more than acceptable. The staff were always pleasant and helpfull and it was close to many icons. We were able to walk to 90 percent of Rome's attractions and we are in our sixties.
