“Rude and unhelpful staff!”

Totally agree with all the negative comments about this hotel. I "ditto" everything that has been said. The shower in our room was nothing but a trickle and very luke warm. Obviously on a budget here! The room was very very noisy even with the window shut. Luckily we only booked for one night. On the website it said you get a full breakfast but there breakfast room is being renovated and under construction! Where they would put a breakfast room i don't know as they only accommodate a very small section of the 5th floor. We were given a breakfast token and we asked where do we go for breakfast. The woman looking down at her newspaper was very vague and gave ambiguous directions. After having tried to following these directions we walked the outside streets for about 30 mins to eventually find the cafe we were meant to go to. Well we were sent to a downstairs room away from the main cafe and given a plastic cup of coffee and a croissant in a napkin! We just stood there and laughed, it couldn't have gotten any worse. We immediately went back to the hotel, picked up our bags and walked a few blocks down the road where we found a gorgeous three star hotel (only one star more than planet) called The Windrose. This hotel is everything the Planet Hotel isn't and they have very helpful staff who smile.

“Shabby hotel, awful management”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2006

The website and the photos of the Hotel Planet greatly misrepresent the dirty, unsanitary and unwelcoming reality of the establishment.
The structure of the hotel is uncoordinated and inefficient making it necessary for one to travel to the 5th floor of the building to check in then back to the 2nd floor to the rooms. With luggage and no help from the staff this introduction sets the scence for the truely awful experience that staying at the Hotel Planet is.

The official website photos present spacious, fesh and welcoming rooms-in fact they are tiny, overpriced and quite frankly grotty. Upon our arrival to the hotel my boyfriend and I were greeted by insects in our room and our obvious concerns were ignored by staff memebers.
I can only describe the lady that "greeted" us as quite typical of the Hotel Planet's staff- unfriendly, rude, disinterested and of appaling attitude for those in the hospitality business.

In most parts of the world a small glass of juice and a croissant does not constitute as breakfast however that is what is offered here. Also, one should point out breakfast is not in the hotel but in an independent cafe.

WARNING JUST DON'T STAY HERE.

“Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2006

The people who run Hotel Planet and its various sister properties engage in deceptive practices. We paid in advance for three nights and after being shifted from one room already - a shoebox with a filthy bath, broken beds and a lousy view - we were advised that a mistake had been made and the third night was not available anymore, even though we had already paid for it. They were miffed we wanted our money back as only a complacent operator can be. The folks at the Termini hotel desk noted this is not an isolated problem with this bunch as they have been known to give the room to a booking agency who can get a higher rate and those on their own have to fend for themselves. I have been traveling in Italy a wonderful country for more than 20 years and have seen a lot of shady operators but never one so boldly unscrupulous as the Hotel Planet. Don't waste your time or your money.

“Simply terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2006

Please, do not go to this Hotel.

I went to Rome with some friends. We had a look at the Hotel Planet web site and it appeared to be a quite pleasant little hotel. We booked two double rooms in advance (price, EUR 100/night).

When we arrived, we noticed that the Hotel is terrible. It is placed in the 5th Floor of a noisy, old and dirty building. Staff of the hotel is really rude. The rooms are dirty and the baths have the size of a matchs box. Incredible! Please do not trust the web site.

We refused to stay at this Hotel and we had to look for another one. Although we did not stay at the rooms, Hotel Planet requested us to pay EUR 200 and, since we refused to do it, they charged this amount in our credit card.

This Hotel is like a nightmare. If you want to enjoy your stay in Rome, please choose another hotel.

“Quite happy at Hotel Planet”

We stayed at The Hotel Planet in Rome for 4 nights in November. We arrived in the evening and the staff were charming to us. The 2 of us managed to fit into the lift with our suitcases without a problem. Yes it was small but who worries about the lift!

Our room was clean, there was lots of hot water and the room was tidied every day. We were told that there was a discount for cash so we took up that option. We were not hassled to pay and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

It was in a good location for sightseeing. We were careful around the station at night but you get that anywhere. If you want a cheap hotel in central Rome then I would suggest you stay here. If you want something flash, look elsewhere.
