“disappointing, good location”

Just come back from 3 nights at this hotel and although I enjoyed my stay I was a bit disappointed. The hotel lacks the sparkle I would expect from a 4 star hotel. The hotel looks tired and in need of a refurbishment. First of all the plus points

- Location. Good location 5-10 minutes walk from the Vatican and 15 minutes walk to the nearest metro station.

- Staff. Staff were friendly and helpful, booked our transfer back to the airport and generally ok.

Now for the not so good.
The hotel website states that it has a garden restaurant. This is actually at the Atlantic Star hotel 5 minutes walk from the Atlante Garden. We decided to investigate but the prices at the restaurant were astronomical and would good meal would have set us back over £100 each. We felt a little mislead by the hotels advertisement of the restaurant.

The ground floor of the hotel was clean but shabby, we sat in the reading lounge one evening and there was a red sofa with stuffing hanging out and the two arm chairs were old and uncomfortable.

Breakfast was adequate but could have more choice. I have stayed in 2 star hotels with a better breakfast.

The room was very small and dark. fabric wall coverings made the room very old fashioned. There was a desk with a TV, 2 bedside cabinets and the bed. The furniture was worn and chipped, and the windows were in poor repair. Also there was no tea and coffee facilities in the room. However, the room was clean and warm.

The bathroom was very small and in poor condition. There were chipped tiles, old tap fixtures still coming out of the wall above the bath, mould and a bad smell in the evenings. We were very disappointed to see the Jacuzzi did not work, we mentioned this to the reception on the first night but nothing was done or no apology was made.

All in all an average hotel which is not worthy of it's 4 stars, would not stay here again if we were to return to Rome in future, Good value for money and great location.

“Nicest Staff I ever dealt with!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Done! We recently stayed at this Hotel and what it lacks in amenities..free wifi.. free return shuttle to airport ..etc.it more than made up in location and what I think was the best hotel staff ever to deal with. One Front Desk Staffer, Foster did a wonderful job of seeing to it the my family and I were always sent in the right direction. He always had a smile on his face and would answer any question. We were there for New Years and my wife and I were out front of the hotel when the Night Desk Gentleman came and got us because he opened the roof terrace for us to go up there and watch it. The housekeeping staff cleaned our room no matter how late we left!

The hotel is right by St. Peters square and we had no problem accessing the metro, restaurants, Hop on Hop of Tours (which was awesome). All in all we would stay there again and again.

Room Tip: We stayed in 137 for 4 people. It was great.

“Nice stay at Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

It was our first time in Rome. Wonderful city and wonderful stay at Atlante Garden Hotel. Upon arrival we took a complimentary shuttle transfer from the airport to the hotel - great thing since we were traveling with two little children (5 & 3).
This Hotel has an excellent position - close to Vaticano. We visited almost all important Roman's monuments by walking and some of them by underground.
Our room was comfortable and clean. The staff was always kind and helpful. We had nice Italian dinner in sister hotel Atlante Sar restaurant. Unfortunately the terrace was closed but we are looking forward to repeat visit in spring and enjoy the Vaticano view.
We really enjoyed and we would recommend this Hotel to everybody.

“Some good, some not so good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Internet is €10 for 8 hours but it doesn't work in my corner room, which is much quieter than the room I had the first night. Rooms facing Via Crescenzio are very noisy. It feels like the window in open when it isn't. The staff are friendly and do the best with what they have. The Internet is like stepping back 10 years and works poorly with an iPad due to log in, log off issues (you keep paying when not in use and staff are noble to due anything about it). Don't think I'd stay here again unless I had business at the Vatican, which is only a few blocks away.

“A great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

My family and I ventured on our first trip to Italy to visit our oldest child who was attedning school in Rome. We were lucky enough to pick the Atlante Gardens as our home away from home. The original reason we selected the hotel was the proximity to my daughters school, but the acoomidations and staff were first class. You will not find a more helpful or friendly staff in all of Rome! If you are looking for a great hotel in the heart of Rome - look no further than the Atlante Garden Hotel.
