“Wonderful Location and Hotel for our Honeymoon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We researched for nearly 4 months before purchasing our vacation. We narrowed it down to a few hotels, but we were so so so so happy and delighted with our choice. This hotel is everything people say it is plus more! The Location of this hotel is litterally about 100 yards from St. Peters Square. Right around the corner from the metro, and all bus lines. The hotel itself is very clean, and has a boutique hotel feel to it. The staff was very helpful, and very nice. We were lucky to have a room with a balcony, that had a view of St. Peters Dome. The hotel is located right off of a main st, that has lots of restaurants, and banking centers nearby. The breakfast buffet was really good. Fresh juices and eggs, bacon, sausage, and a bunch of different cereals and foods.

Our trip to ROMA was the best trip I have ever taken. and the hotel had a big part to do with it. :))))

“starhotels michelangelo roma”

I'm usually skeptic about big brand chain hotels, since hospitality is standardized and set for a large panel of guests. Nothing extraordinary or remarkable, usually. This is not true for Michelangelo Hotel.
Ok, what does really matters in hospitality industry? Position, position, position! As a great and famous italian Hotel Manager used to repeat at hospitality conventions. But not only that. Friendly and efficient staff at reception. Everything sounds easy and automatic with those guys. Rome is not so chaotic and polluted by thousands of screaming tourists in this part of Rome. And we are talking about a place something like 200 mt from Vatican City! You have a great breakfast and step out from the lobby for a ten minutes walk, just to have a look to Bernini Masterpiece in Vatican City. Then, go further to Castelsantangelo Bridge and walk randomly along the old part of Rome. That's the best way to enjoy real Rome, avoiding normal touristic routes.
In the afternoon, come back to your hotel, take a sit at the bar and enjoy a drink together to your girlfriend, or your friends. The bartender is friendly and talkative, leading you to take your time and relax for a while, waiting for dinner time.
Nice place. Well trained staff. Best Position for cultural and art-inspired holidays. Room spotless cleaned; bathroom larger than I expected from the pictures on the web. If you really care about value for money, with no frills, that's your hotel.

Couldn't have been happier with the position .......our room backed onto a lane that was quite noisy early due to a Greengrocer stocking up each day .As with most hotels we have found in Europe the heating was oppressive but here you could open the windows to cool, down .breakast was fantastic too

Room Tip: Hmmmmm maybe not backing onto the Lane way

“Location good for Vatican”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

Stayed here for 5 nights in November. The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms etc.. are very clean. The breakfasts were nice but we were a bit fed up of Bacon and Scrambled egg by the end!! We didn't eat in the hotel as the prices were a bit prohibitive in the restaurant. We went to the bar for a drink on the first night - €18 for two Bailey's - needless to say we didn't go there again!!! The staff were just on the right side of polite but not very friendly or patient.
The location is excellent for the Vatican and also for getting to the Vatican stop for any of the Hop on Hop off tours. (Don't let the Hotel sell you tickets for the GreenLine Tours, they are terrible and way overpriced for what you get. Walk through St Peter's Square to Villa della Conciliazone, you can pick up any of the tours there. The Castel sant Angelo is within walking distance and is a nice walk in the evening when it's getting dark. You can get some lovely photos along the river from any of the Bridges down there.)
All in all We found the hotel to be comfortable and clean. What more do you want for a holiday in Rome I guess but it would be nice if having a drink in the bar or dinner in the hotel were affordable and the staff were a bit friendlier.
The housekeeping staff were very friendly and were able to get my pyjamas back when they were sent out to the laundry by mistake!!!

Room Tip: Rooms to the front with Balconies have a nice view of St Peter's but are a bit noisey with traff...

“Excellent location for visit to The Vatican”

We stayed for three nights at this hotel,The hotel is clean and staff were pleasant enough,My particular interest in visiting Rome is the Vatican city so the hotel is in a convenient location. We took the Hop on Hop off bus(48hrs), there is a bus stop for Open top buses outside St Peters square ,we managed to visit most of Romes landmarks using this bus instead of metro or the local buses. The Hotel is not in Rome centre but that is how we like it ,away from the noise of busy city. The neighbourhood has some small sovenir shops, several cafes/ice cream parlours and restaurants. There is'nt much choice of food and can be quite pricey.Just 2 minutes walk from the hotel we found this small cafe /snack bar Claudio and Ewa Bar ,we ate there a few times, good food, friendly staff and real value for money.Should we have the opportunity to travel to Rome again, I will definitely stay in this hotel and will recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side, the dome of St Peters Basilica is parly visible and it has a veranda.
