“TERRIBLE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2011

The room on the ninth floor was terrible.the walls are cracked, the bathroom is full of fungus and everything was dirty.also the elevator stops at 8 floor and had to go with the luggages throuth the steps.the door was burgled and the windows had no safety on locking,to be exact there was no locking at all at the windows.
after a lot of argument they changed as at the other day at another floor that was busheled.
the new room was a little better but nothing close to 4 stars hotel

“Ok for a short stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2011

After reading some of the reviews here I was expecting the worst, but the room we had was better than I expected. It was clean and everything worked (plumbing, tv etc). We only stayed for 2 nights and it was a nice place to come back to at the end of the day to sleep. We found some of the staff to be a bit rude - looked at us in disbelief when we asked where the in-room safe key was and said that we needed to pay a deposit for it (as though we should have already known). The breakfast spread was quite nice - lots of yummy pastries.
Overall it was a nice place to sleep and have our breakfast.

“OLD ROOMS BUT GOOD FOOD”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 March 2011

The rooms were old and the wall and ceiling looks torn. It is located abit outskirt, so we paid more than usual (usual means the price to the city centre) to the cabby from the airport to the hotel. The receptionist is helpful. The breakfast is good. We had our dinner there too. I would say the food is the best! There is a train station just outside the hotel which you can get to shopping areas. But overall i would say its not a four star hotel, rather a three star standard, this is overrated.

“Horrid”

We stayed in this hotel in May 2010. Upon arriving we noticed that there was a slight smell in our room so we opened the window to air it out a bit. When we came back after dinner around 10pm the smell was so horrible that we both were almost physically sick to our stomachs. It was so bad that the people staying next door to us felt so bad for us they offered for us to stay in their room instead (which did not have any smell at all).

We ended up staying in the room however the double bed was two singles pushed together (which is very common in Europe I will admit) but they were very old beds both of which had a ditch in the middle so we both ended up sleeping in the crack between the two beds.

Breakfast was good, dinner ok, and the other rooms I saw were fine just a bit outdated.

When we were there, there were about 5 schools staying there also. I couldn't believe that they would allow children to stay in a "five star" hotel in Rome. Turns out they were on a school CAMP!!! They stayed up until all hours and I know a lot of people were disrupted by them running up and down the stairs and screaming. AFter the children left it was a lot better.

I think that this hotel is a bit of a lucky dip - it could be ok, or it could be HORRID!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2011

As a first-time visitor to Rome, I was looking forward to staying at a four-star hotel at the start and end of my tour, but I found the Regent to be an overall disappointment. Whilst my room was larger than the average in Europe, the location was frustrating in such a lively city. Nearby Euclide station is only serviced approximately ever half-hour by grafitti-ridden trains (as a solo traveller I was very nervous and reluctant to explore before my tour) meaning that valuable exploration time is wasted nervously awaiting the train and that day excursions are cut short with the last train running around 10:30pm.

The hotel itself has mixed service - the in-house restaurant was shocking. I was the only customer and the waiter took nearly 15 minutes to perform any task (bringing water, serving food, clearing plate, bringing the bill, getting change...) so that it took nearly an hour and a half for one plate of food from start to finish. Similarly, some of the food served in the dining room for groups was not fit to serve to animals, with disgustingly greasy "meat" and vegetables clearly drowning in the same fat. Breakfast was fine though. The reception staff don't have the best attitude generally, but were helpful when my airport transfer was late in offering advice and alternative options.

I was also disappointed in the ensuite, where the shower tap head came off in my hand and the door wouldn't open all the way.

Whilst most of these things were tolerable, it certainly did not live up to my expectations, and in such a vibrant city as Rome, I am sure that there are far better offerings out there.
