“great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The hotel is in a great location for easy access to all the main tourist sights, the staff were friendly and welcoming, rome was great, the hotel rating as 4 star is a bit optimistic in my opinion, i would rate it at more like a 3 star, me and my partner frequently go on short 3 night breaks around the main cities of europe, and normally try to get good deals and stay in 4 and 5 star hotels, i was disappointed at not having a tray with kettle and tea, coffee etc in the room, as i find this a basic requirement for todays tourists, to come back to your room and make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee, the way you like it, and just relax after a day of sight seeing, or waking up in the morning and having your first cuppa, before actually having to get dressed and going down to breakfast, any way, we asked at the front desk, but they do not cater for this, shame, as i always take my pg tips with me, the other problem that i found was that the beds in the room were two single beds pushed together, we had booked a double room, and like all the hotels we have stayed in, expected to have a double bed in the room, i suppose it would not have been too bad, if the two single beds were the same height, one was about 2 inches higher than the other, and the gap down the centre seemed to grow in the night, i kept waking up, and had to push them together a couple of times, i also woke up with an aching back, again we did ask about a double bedded room but for reasons unknown, this hotel only has twin bedded rooms, a fact to consider before booking, we were given a 3rd floor , rear room, the view from the window was of lots of air conditioning units dotted around, and a small triangle of roofs and walls and concrete, the room was very quiet, except for the hum of the air conditioners, we asked for a front room and were given one on the same floor, the rooms are very nice , with on suite toilet, bath and showers, the view from our front room was great, we could see quite a bit of rome, the noise from the road below is quite loud, and would bother a lot of guests, but we live on a main road and are used to traffic noise, so this was not a problem for us, the dining room and entrance are very grand, with marble floors etc, the buffet breakfast was ok, with plenty of cereal, cheese and ham, etc, but except for the cold boiled eggs, there was no cooked food, plenty of tea and coffee but you have to ask for a tea pot, sorry but i am english, all in all, i would not go back to this hotel, purely because for the price we paid, £65 a night, i,m sure there are a lot better hotels in rome, this time of year (january), for the same or less money, the best thing it has going for it, is the location, just another point about going to rome, i paid £60 for the roma passes, waste of money, you can walk everywhere and the main sights don,t cost much to get in, if you are flying to ciampino airport, book terravision coach to rome terminae for only 8 euros return, its only 40 mins , and a nice ride.

Room Tip: ask for a rear room if you want a peaceful night, if you want a view, then you have to put up with t...

“Very enjoyable stay”

Hotel Traiano is in a great location for visiting all Rome's major sites. Just a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum, and under 5 minutes to the Trevi fountain. The Hotel is very clean and the staff are extremely helpful and polite. I never experienced any problems and will definitely use them again when i return to Rome.

“A Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

This hotel is within easy walking distance of many of Rome's visitor attractions, and a short taxi ride to others. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and very helpful, and all spoke good English - though they appreciated my stumbling attempts at Italian! Our room was large enough, clean and had all the facilities we could want for a weekend stay. The breakfast is truly excellent, and the dining room decor beautiful. There have been reviews complaining about traffic noise and saying the hotel would benefit from some repair and painting.

Yes, there was traffic noise, but remember the hotel is in the centre of a very busy city! Certainly we were not bothered by the traffic - just a background hum with the window closed - if anything it added to the atmosphere of being in a vibrant modern city, with ancient ruins. That is modern Rome.

Redecoration? Well yes, the outside facade could do with a fresh coat of paint, mostly due to traffic grime I suspect, but pretty well every building in a modern city centre has this problem. The interior decor and furnishings could not be faulted.

I will definitely return to this hotel next time I am in Rome.

Room Tip: Our room faced Trajan's Market, with great views of the ancient Roman city

If you meet Giuseppe De-Simone on the reception you will find him most helpful during your stay and very pleasant.
Location; Fantastic.
Noisy in front rooms, traffic all the time.
Very good cont. breakfast, When booking I requested Gluten free bread and Soya milk and was presented with a tray of Gluten free goodies every morning at our table, Very,Very good
service on this part.

Room Tip: Take a back room and put up with the not so good "view"
