Nova Domus is on a small side street near the Vatican. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the Cipro underground station, and about the same to the Vatican. The location, to me, is really good - it's just outside the really touristy areas right next to the Vatican, but still really close. You can park on the street for free here as well. There is an ice cream place across the street, and a couple of good restaurants (that are all locals) within a few minutes walk. There is also a huge indoor market about a 5 minute walk away, where you can buy just about anything. This is also a place for locals.
The hotel itself - reception is friendly. A lot of places in Italy, you won't find too many English speakers, so keep that in mind. There is a bar and small lounge on the first floor, and drinks are pretty cheap. The rooms themselves are not bad - about midrange for a European "4-star" hotel. Even the "queen" room is just 2 twin beds pushed together, unless you get lucky. But it's pretty clean, and bathroom is pretty good. Probably the best part is free breakfast - one of the better ones I've had in Europe. There's an actual restaurant, and a terrace with a nice view if you want to sit outdoors. The food available is pretty decent, better than usual for free breakfast in Europe. The elevators all work consistently (another thing that can be spotty in Europe), and the wifi was not bad. Overall, if you're planning to visit the Vatican, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Keep in mind that Rome is a very spread out city, so major attractions are not necessarily near each other at all.
