“Pleasant and practical”

My husband and I stayed at this Hotel in summer 2007. It was across the road from a busstop so access to the centre of Rome was easy. Two doors down was a shop to buy bus tickets, stamps and snacks. We ate at a discounted Hotel next door, and one nighttook a bus three stops down the road to an outdoor restaurant for families. The rooms were very clean and quiet. the service was friendly and helpful, with internet access if required and a phone for necessary local calls. The breaksfast available to buy was simple but exactly what we needed with very friendly service. The Hotel patrons were lovely people. Many of our New Zealand friends have stayed here. The price is excellent and we felt safe in the area. We walked to the Vatican, about 15 minutes away. I would stay there again.

“Nice for the Price”

Clean double for 70 Euro, 10-15 minute walk to the vatican

Room has no TV or Phone.
Breakfast is not included.

Friendly Staff.

Room includes a bathroom with shower

The hotel is located on a street that allows you to walk to the vatican in 10-15 minutes. ( I would guess a taxi ride could be done in under 5 minutes) Bus stops are available , but we walked everywhere.

A subway stop is located just a couple of blocks north of the vatican, and is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. This same area has grocery stores, shops etc... Taxi to the main Train Station was under 20 Euro.

Breakfast is available for a small charge. A small sandwich shop is about 1 minute walk. I suggest you do not go the the Hotel recommended diner next door, 15 euro per person, fixed menu, poor food quality.

“not good for summer”

My family of 5 stayed 1 night at the Domus. When I booked the hotel I was told the rooms had air condition. With the time change from the west coast (USA), we arrived at the Domus after a long flight of 27 hours (including time change). We were allowed into 1 of the 2 rooms booked. The room had no air condition. It was a hot and hiumid day, June 26 2008. When asked about the air condition, I was told NOT all the rooms have air. The room for 3 with air was only being used. I was told the room for 2 would have air. Well, that rooms air condition happen to break as we were getting ready to get the room. Our 1st day in Rome was very disappointing. Thank God it was only for a 1 night stay. If it wasn't for the summer month, the hotel would work for budget minded travelers. It is a NO FRILLS hotel.

“Not a practical location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2007

We stayed 3 nights at Domus Aurelia with our kids in august 2007. While the affordable price let us have 2 rooms and bathrooms which is more confortable than being 4 persons in a fancier hotel, I must say that we did'nt find the location very practical. A taxi from the trainstation costs 25 euros. The bus no. 46 which stops at the hotel should come every 20 min.can sometimes be expected for over an hour and in thoses cases, is overpackked with angry and sweaty people. The subway station is at a 10-15 min. walking distance from the hotel but you must realise that you have to walk on a highway to get there. I do not recommend that hotel to those who like to go back to their room during the day, it is just to much time on transports. I guess it's fine for those who leave the hotel in the morning and come back to sleep. Be aware that you cannot really go anywhere by foot from that hotel, which is on a very busy street with a 1 person wide sidewalk and surrounded by residential buildings. (no restaurants in the aera.)There is though a little food store next to the hotel where you can buy water and sandwiches if you want to eat on your balcony, listening to the trafic.
Other than that, the place is clean, you can have breakfast on the site and the people are friendly. There is a lack of decoration that one should expect when travelling in a religious establishment.

My husband , 2 children and myself stayed here for 3 nights(6/04) and had a very good stay. 15 minutes from St. Peters, bus stop across the street and a 7 minute walk to the metro. 97 euro per night for a CLEAN quad. Breakfast was extra if you chose to eat there... about 11 euro for all of us. Left my camera on a table and was returned to the front desk. The hotel next door gave you a discount for dinner. 14 euro per person and more than we could eat!
