Stayed 8 nights here in September 2011 and was very pleased. The view from our window was of the Pantheon and the bustling square of happy people and in the evening buskers playing their music, great sound and atmosphere. But close the windows, shutters and curtains and all is serene inside. The rooftop bar gives good views of Rome both night and day.
For us all the major sites are within walking distance, we only used a tour bus to visit the Appian Way. This meant we could see one site in the morning and easily nip back if needed to freshen up or rest before going to another or before going out to eat in the evening. For an early start trip to Pompei (pre-booked with Viator.com) we walked to the other side of the square to get a taxi to take us to the coach office near the train station. Being whisked around the empty narrow streets of Rome was another fun experience you would not get during the day. We are thinking of going back to Rome and even though we will be travelling further to see the sites we missed we will be staying here again.
There is no restaurant but this is not needed because it is surrounded by them and you would rather eat outside looking at the Pantheon or some other wonderfull site and watch the people walk by. Breakfast is continental, cereals, cheeses and cold meats, the usual affair with some hot food but don't expect a full English cooked breakfast, you are in Rome after all.
I would also recommend booking the airport to Hotel taxi pick up. Being met at the airport by the driver and taken directly to the hotel starts the holiday just right with no worries of being ripped off as you can read about. The same return taxi journey back to the airport is also worth doing but you just book that at reception a few days before leaving.
