This is a wonderful wonderful hotel, in an even more wonderful location. We went on this trip as a treat for my partner and I for one night, principally to go out dinner ("we're going out for dinner love", "ooh, where?", "er, Rome"), and I wanted to get it all absolutely right.

We booked this on the various high recommendations on tripadvisor and elsewhere, at a really good rate thru Expedia.
On arrival, we were upgraded to a superior room with the most magnificent view of the Pantheon and the square - the most delightful view in the most romantic city on earth. Opening the windows up and listening tothe hustle and bustle and music and singing was magical, as magical as being able to close them and the noise out at bed time.

The staff were always attentive and helpful without being too ott; the room and public areas are well decorated, very marbly and ornate but in a stylish manor.

Location wise, it is perfect - a 3 minute stroll to piazza Navona for lunch or a coffee and to absorb the 4 river statue or the bustling caricaturists in the square, walk the other way and the Trevi fountain and Spanish steps are several minutes away, all the while meandering through cobbled streets with small interesting shops and boutiques along the way. We had breakfast in Campo dei fiori which is a 5 minute walk away too.

So the trip was a success in terms of accommodation and location; dinner wasn't such a success - see our review on the Onego restaurant at the Hassler - not good.

We felt really really lucky to be alive being in Rome, near the Pantheon, in this hotel; we have always loved this area; we have now found our favourite hotel to stay at when we return. This is what it's all about - If you stay here and don't feel full of passion and love and life, then you must be walking through life with your eyes wide shut. Life's short - come here and you will feel happy to be alive. Promise.

My boyfriend had booked the trip as a birthday gift for me as i had always wanted to visit Rome and he could not have picked a better hotel for our visit. The Albergo del Senato is ideally situated right next to the Pantheon overlooking the Piazza della Rotonda. Its not every day you get to look out of your bedroom window at views like that. Even though we visited during romes worst snowfall in nearly three decades it just added to the beauty of it all.
The staff were fantastic, very warm and friendly and always willing to help with a smile and joke. If only you could bottle staff like that, all hotels would be a delight!!!
The hotel itself was devine, our room had a sense of opulence, the breakfasts a perfect start.
I would most certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and would most definately stay there again.
Out of ten? a well deserved 11 !

My wife, 23 year old daughter and I stayed at the Albergo del Senato for one week in June 2011. After reading several TripAdvisor reviews, we decided to book our stay there over other area hotels. We were not disappointed ... here is why:

* Service - The service at the hotel was much more outstanding than typical rated hotels. There was never a moment when the staff wasn't "on hand", offering suggestions for dinner, dessert, coffee, and so on.

* Location - I can promise there is not a better location in all of Rome. When other reviews say the Pantheon is located close by, that does not adequately do it justice. Walking out the front door, you are easily less than 25 yards away from it's front door! Our suite overlooked the beautiful architectural relic, and it felt like we could "touch it" every moment! Also an easy walk 5-15 minute to all of the popular tourist spots ... no need for taxis. And lots and lots of wonderful dinner places within a 5 minute walk.

We are returning to Rome this coming June with our two adult children and will most definitely book the Albergo del Senato ... we would not consider another place!

Excellent location and far more impressive than the official 3 star rating. Had a great room on the 4th floor overlooking the Pantheon, very comfortable stay. Mauro on reception was very helpful and his restaurant recommendations were spot on. Breakfast good but could do with some more hot selection. Overall, very pleased with the choice and wouldnt hesitate to suggest this hotel for anyone wanted to stay in Rome.
