We were very disappointed with the Casa Vacanze Laterano as we were expecting a B&B but instead got an overpriced hostel, had we not already given our card details we would have left.
Just as a foreword it is very difficult to find the premises (taking us almost an hour) as the rooms are situated amongst residential flats and the only indication to their whereabouts is the buildings intercom button.
The breakfast was very disappointing. Firstly it should not refer to itself as a B&B because the premises have no eating facilities, instead you are given tokens to redeem your breakfast at a local cafe. Sadly these tokens only entitle you to a small coffee and a single croissant, my wife wanted fruit juice instead of a coffee and was told she would have to pay the difference.
The room itself was just sufficient (bearing in mind Italian standards are quite different compared to the rest of Europe). We stayed in a room with a private bathroom, however the boiler is shared with the communal bathroom consequently there was a lot of noise anytime somebody was showering. There are long-term building works going on in the area as they are installing a 3rd Metro line, but our room was situated away from the street so luckily there were no noises.
The only redeeming factor is the situation, 100m from the S. Giovanni Metro station.
Although this review is quite harsh had we paid approx 60 Euros rather than the extortionate 75 Euros and went expecting a hostel the failings of this establishment could be forgiven, sadly this was not the case. Therefore go expecting a hostel and you won't be disappointed, so long as you get it for the right price and can take or leave breakfast.
