We stayed for four nights at this hotel after an exhausting search for a nice hotel across Rome. Let me first say that the location, size and cleanliness of this place is fantastic. The
( despar) supermarket is literally at your doorstep. the free skye tv with loads of kiddies channels to chose from and the free wireless internet was a real advantage as it kept both the kids and my hubby entertained.
Most sites are walking distance( we even walked to the Colosseum), except the Vatican city. There is a tiny functioning lift. The air conditioning works well. The Fontana De Trevi is across the road, Pantheon, Piazza Novona, Piazza Venezia , Spanish steps are all easily walkable. The 110 hop on hop off stops right at the main road outside. A main bus stop termini is 4 mins. walk from the apartmnents. Metro, information office, shopping areas are all easy walks.
The only thing is that it is not really a hotel or a B&B, it is more like a serviced apartment with a single person at the reception from 9 am to 9pm.There is no service to speak of and you are totally on your own apart from the apartment and cleaning service which is provided on a daily basis.
The only negative is that there was no tea kettle, microwave or basic amenities like sugar, salt, dish washing soap, tea bags.We had a to do a super fast trip to the supermarket to get us going. We were given a kettle when we requested on day one but it leaked and the lights tripped. The kettle was only replaced on the third day in the evening. There were three different people manning the reception at various times, the girl Natasha and the young guy were helpful, but the older guy was not.
The young man at the reception ( didn't get his name) was very helpful and changed our soap dispenser, fixed our lights, gave us directions and extra blankets when we asked for them.
I would highly recommend this place just for the sheer location, price, size and cleanliness. It does not have the luxuries of a hotel, but has a clean room, toilet (large bathroom but no bath tub, only a shower but with hot water all day long) and working A/C to sleep well at night.
One must do while in Rome, the gelati at the fontana the Trevi ( the first one was marginally better than the second), and the streets from the Fontana to Pantheon worth a dekko!!
