“Just what we needed: Clean beds and bathroom!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

We were in Rome for two days and two nights. This hotel filled all of our basic needs perfectly. It was close to Termini. We got in at night and had to walk there, it was not obviously marked, but if you read the directions they sent with your confirmation it is easy to find.
Breakfast was paid for at a little shop on the way back to Termini with delicious pastries. They had a map and a travel book which was very helpful for us as well as computer access (although free use was limited between certain hours of the day). If you want something affordable that is just clean and provides a place to sleep and shower, this is the perfect place!
There is not very much in the area around the hotel, but a short walk back to Termini brings you into the busy area with plenty of restaurant options.

“Great place to stay - budget, private, quite”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2009

My boyfriend and I went to Rome for 4 days in October 2009. After a long search for a private budget accommodation we decided for Cristina's Residence and we didn't regret. The place is located very close to underground station Castro Pretorio (line B) - approximately 10 minutes walk - and to central train station Termini (15 minutes walk). It is in a dead end of a quiet street in a high building with a small courtyard hidden by a marquis. We got a room on the ground floor, with a window into the courtyard (that caused the room to be a bit dark, but that didn't matter too much since we needed the place only for rest during the night). The room was very spacious (approx. 24 square meters). The "double bed" consisted of two beds pushed together, furthermore there was a divan and a sofa. Other equipment consisted of: a small fridge, AC (we didn't use it, but it could be helpful during summer), TV. The lights were a bit weak and not good for reading. A private bathroom was attached to the room, with a shower (hot water all the day), toilet, bidet, basin and a hair-dryer. Shampoo and shower gel also provided, towels changed every two days. Breakfast is served every morning directly into the room consisting of a chosen drink (at the arrival you choose the beverage: tea, coffee or chocolate) and some sweets (croissant and several kinds of other biscuits) - the breakfast is every day the same. It is possible to have some tea during the day (an electric kettle, cups and some tea are available in the hall). Fridge is handy if you don't want to spend all your money in restaurants (though we didn't find any supermarket in the closest neighbourhood - but we didn't look for it). Wi-fi is available and if you don't have laptop, there's a local computer with Internet access in the hall. The staff is very friendly (especially the bedmaker, who doesn't speak English), the other man speaks English well, but they're not at the place all the time (you have to state in advance the time when you arrive, so that they are there when you come). The staff smokes in the courtyard, so it can be a bit smelly there (especially when your window heads into the courtyard - this could be annoying if you need the window open during summer). At the arrival you get the key to the whole building so you don't need to care about your late comebacks. Generally is the service very good, the place is quite, clean and very suitable for people searching for private accommodation with moderate prices. We would definitely come back (if we ever come back to Rome).
A few remarks about Rome: Nice place, though too many tourists in some places (overcrowded Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, Di Trevi fountain, Piazza di Spagna - that was tiring). Beware of thieves in crowded places and public transport) - our camera was stolen on the first day in a full bus, so we don't have any picture (despite we enjoyed the stay). Go and see Colosseo, Foro Romano, Palatino, Pantheon, Vatican City and St. Peter's Basilica with the view of Rome.

“Nice rooms, quiet surroundings, but quite far from the city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

bath-tub was luxury :) room was very spacious, it had a/c, but the breakfast had a lost to wish for... just a coffee and a couple of crackers- but that's the way it is in italy.. thought it was away from the city center, metro station was 5 min walk, so it was ok, and the neighbourhood was quiet and safe i think... landlady was very nice to us. it was ok :)

“GREAT VALUE! However, location was out of the way.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2009

CR was lovely. We arrived and immediately the lady who greeted us gave us instructions of where we should go visit. In particular, the Vatican CIty she suggest as it was going to be closed the following day. This was extremely helpful. She was very friendly. Since this owner owns multiple hostels, we met at another one of her hostels down the street and called a gentlemen over to walk us to our guesthouse. The place is a little out of the way (its at a dead end street and there is only one way to it.) But its a few blocks from a metro station (Castro Pretorio station )so its ok.
There were five of us. I was a bit concerned how we were all going to fit in one room; but she said it was very roomy. When we got to our room, it certainly was very large! There was a bunk bed set, a twin bed behind it, and a large queen bed. We all definitely were comfortable. There was a desk and two closets. The bathroom (private) was very large too. It wasn't a shower where you basically stand there and let the water hit you. It was roomy.
They take you beverage order for breakfast at check in. Choice of cappuccino (SPECTACULAR!), chocolate, or coffee. They also bring it to your room at your choice of time between 8am and 10am. They also bring little breads, croissants. and biscuits with the beverages for everyone. It was really cute and nice.
Also in check in you must pay upfront to get the keys in cash. You would get two sets of keys. And in the set it included the key to your bedroom and the key to the gate. The guesthouse is gated.
Since its next to the university and on a dead end street. It was very quiet; which was very much so appreciated after long days of touring the city.
There was a TV in the room with satellite. There was also wifi and a computer in the hallway to use. Wifi wasn't so strong, but it was fine.
Overall, a great experience. Would definitely recommend to everyone.
